Chapter 16

*******
A few days later...

Dont you think we should have at least called him?  I mean, it
was his vacation house

Yeah, yeah, we know Lance, and hes going to be mad, but it just wouldnt be helped.  Johnnys cutting our vacation short and we need to start thinking about the new album.  Apparently that mini recording studio in the basement sealed the deal.

Justins right man.  But Im kinda worried about how hell react when he sees us sitting on his front stoop.

Chris, stoops dont exist in California.  Youre thinking of New York, but this is Malibu!  And you know what Malibu meansfine lookin ladies, tans, bikin-

Ok!  I think we get the point Joe!

Oh you know you cant wait

Yes I can!  I
hate women.

Justin, get over it.  Just because Britney cheated on you doesnt mean all girls are like that.

Well, I still dont forgive her.  Her and her
kind.

Ok squirt, but when you meet your soul mate at the beach, dont make me say I told you so.

Shutup.

*******
Josh, wake yourself!

"
Mmmgrbhergermuff

Joshua!  You promised youd teach me more about recording today!

He simply rolled over in his bed, greeting Margot with another low groan.  She rolled her eyes and tried to wake him by shaking him roughly.  When she released his arms, his breathing deepened again and she gave up.

Fine, Im going swimming

JC mumbled incoherently to her as she exited his bedroom, and walked into her own.  She quickly stripped of her pajamas and slipped on a dark blue bikini bathing suit.  Grabbing a large towel on her way, she hurried down the stairs and walked out the back door.  Immediately greeted with sweet salt in the air, warm sand beneath her feet, gulls and waves in her ears, and endless ocean ahead of her, she smiled contentedly.  The calming blue water stretched in all directions and made Margot instantly fall in love with California.  Dropping her towel in the sand, she walked to the cool surf and jumped in the water, feeling completely at home swimming in the frigid blanket.

Half an hour later*******
Ding-dong.

JC heard the doorbell ring just as he pulled on a plain white t-shirt.

I wonder who that could be He wondered thoughtlessly as he descended the stairwell.  Once at the door, he didnt bother looking through the peephole and swung it wide open.  His pale blue eyes widened when he saw the four men at his threshold.

Hell
no

I told you guys hed be mad

Shut
up Lance! Justin chided.  The five men eyed each other as if they were total strangers until Chris stepped in front of the group.

Way to greet your best friends, man.

Walking towards them, JC engulfed them all in a bear hug.  They all laughed, slightly relieved JC wasnt as angry as he had seemed before.

You guys know Im glad to see you anytime, but why are you here?

Chris looked at Joey, Joey looked at Justin and Justin looked at Lance who just shrugged.  JC lifted an eyebrow, waiting for a real answer, not just a round of uneasy glances.

Uh Joey cleared his throat.  Well, Johnny kind of cut our vacation short, They all watched JCs eyes get bigger.  And he also wants us to start thinking about the new album.  So he sent us all here. JC groaned inwardly, hoping not to hear what he knew would come out of Joey's mouth.  And were staying. His eyes looked about ready to pop out of his head.

You have
got to be kidding me.

Unfortunately, no. Chris muttered.

Look JC, we all wanted to get the whole time to ourselves, but it just doesnt work that way when youre
us.  Lance helped out.

He nodded.  Being in *NSYNC was definitely hard work and he knew his friends were right, but that didnt mean he was happy with the current situation.  Now hed have to share the beach house with four other guys, four other guys with reputations for being some of the messiest people on earth.  Not to mention Marg-

Margot!

JCs panicky eyes looked up, expecting to see the guys still there, but no one was in sight.  His eyes grew frantic and he whipped his head around just in time to see his four best friends slowly approaching a small figure laying face down on the sand.  A small figure that looked a lot like

Oh dear.
