| Chapter 1 ******* What? Margot Martin asked. She was completely bewildered. Bewildered and sad. And angry. Her boyfriend of two years had just dropped the bomb. I know. Im horrible. I never deserved someone as wonderful as you are. I dont know why I did it, but I did and for that I am forever remorseful. Please, understand when I say that I truly have regret for what I did. I never meant to hurt you. The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but I did. And Im sorry. No. I didnt say why. I said what. Lucas Delage looked at his girlfriend, well, ex-girlfriend blankly. What do you mean what? I told you. I got really drunk last night and I slept with your best friend. And the knife is twisted even deeper. I know what you did. I think I got it the first time. I wanted to know what. He still looked at her stupidly. She sighed exasperatedly. I want to know what I did to deserve this! I want to know what I did to make you want to go and cheat on me! And spare me the Oh I was drunk and I didnt know what I was doing speech. Ive heard it before and I know bullshit when I see, smell, and hear it. And, you my dear Lucas are no less than a huge pile of it. And you dont even drink! What the hell!? Do you really think Im that stupid to fall for something that idiotic!? Wait, dont even answer that. Lucas was dumbfounded. But even more so than before. Margot had always been one to keep her cool around everyone. She was the epitome of calm. But now, he didnt know how to take this sudden change in her. He immediately felt remorse for his actions when he saw the anger flash behind her eyes, but now he was almost scared for his own safety in the presence of thisthis mad woman. Are you just going to stand there and look like the moron you are or are you going to get out and save yourself from the inevitable ass-kicking you will get if you stay here? Margot yelled angrily. Lucas hurried toward the front door of her small apartment. He stopped when his hand touched the doorknob. This might be the last time he ever saw this side of this door. Margots eyes flashed again when she saw his pause. What are you waiting for!? Lucas turned around to face the woman he once loved. He felt the urge to reach up and caress her soft cheek but resisted when his eyes raised a little to see the same crazed look in her eyes. I just wanted to let you know that I truly am sorry. And I will always love you. Margot looked him straight in the eye and scoffed haughtily. She suddenly pushed him to the side and yanked open the door, motioning for him to make a quicker exit than he was managing at the moment. Lucas sadly turned and walked out of her apartment. And maybe her life forever. ******* What? Bu- but why? I mean- Honey, dont. It was no fault of yours. I just dont know. The fire, to be corny just wasnt there anymore. And I dont want you to stay up at night wondering to yourself why this happened. It just did and I know you dont believe this, but everything happens for a reason. I just hope that one day when you realize what actually happened tonight, youll find it in your heart to forgive me. For at least two years, JC and Roxanne had been two peas in a pod; completely and utterly inseparable. He thought they had been in love. He thought that theyd be together forever. He had thought that she was the one. Christ But this. Apparently, she had been seeing another guy on the side for at least three months now. Three months! How the hell could he have missed it!? Cuz I was too fucking blind to see anything. They do say that love is blind Who was he kidding. Is that all you have to say? Roxanne stared at him. A bored eyebrow lifted and her beautiful voice filled the room once again. Yeah. I said I was sorry and thats it. JC was taken aback. She was sorry and thats it? And thats it!? JC was sensing an emotion inside of him he hadnt felt in a very long time. He didnt know quite what to call it when the word suddenly came to him Rage. Thats it. Thats it!? We date for two years and thats it!? I really dont understand how you women work. I never did, but now, now I dont even know what to say! Everything seemed great. Fucking great! For two years! But then I get the oh-so-wonderful news that my loving girlfriend has been cheating on me for the past three goddamn months! To hell with that. And thats it she says. Give me a goddamn break. Roxanne hadnt expected this. She had known this man for almost three years and he had never once showed the emotion he was showing at that moment. He was always so tranquil. Either tranquil or stressed. But never angry. No, this wasnt angry. This wasnt even furious. Thisthis was pissed off. She had never meant to not feel anything for him anymore one day, but she couldnt help the way she felt and there was no taking back of words now. I know it sounds like I dont care, JC laughed coldly. Roxanne sighed tiredly. She then reiterated. I know it sounds like I dont care JC, but I do. And I know you dont believe me. I cant help the way I feel. And I know you thought what we had was great, and I thought the same for a long time. But one day the feeling just wasnt there anymore. Must be magic, huh. He replied flatly. And like I said before, I just hope that one day youll see that this was all for the better. Hey, you might even thank me. She smiled faintly, not seeing the rage build up in him once again. But this time, he controlled it a bit more. I might thank you a lot sooner if you would leave. But JC-, Please. Roxanne sighed for the second time in a matter of seconds and quietly made her way to the front door of his lavish home. Once at the door, she looked behind her for the last time and smiled sadly at the man she used to love. Used to, but no more, and that was why she was leaving. Probably for good. JC saw her smile and tried his best to look at bored as he possibly could. He didnt have to try very hard. It was only when he heard the door close shut that he let his true feelings get the better of him. He cried. |
