| Chapter 2 ******* Margot walked out on the small balcony attached to her apartment. She looked out over the French skyline. It was the first time she had truly looked outside all day. She had lived in France all her life. She swore to herself that shed die there. It was the most beautiful place in the world to her. But now, she couldnt even stand being there, all because of one person. Shed promised herself that shed never let a man work his way into her heart so that when, not if, when he decided to hurt her, she could go on living the same as always. But Lucas had gotten the best of her. She had tried to stay away from him. But he always seemed to have the right thing to say at the right time. And he always knew where to touch her, and kiss her to make her feel like the only person- the only woman in the world. Margot shook her head violently. No use thinking about the past. Now I have to think of where to go There was no way she could stay in Paris. She had to get out. She didnt even have a job anymore. She used to work with Lucas as a makeup artist for models during photo shoots. He would always do hair, and shed do makeup. She was known universally as one of the best in the business, and all because of his teaching. And since she didnt even want to stay in France, there was no way she could keep her job with him. But first she had to think of a place to go. California. Shed always wanted to go. Shed heard stories of celebrities that roamed the streets like normal people there. Shed heard stories of casting directors who were forever on the lookout for new faces to grace the movie screens. And what else besides dream did she have to do to take up her time these days? California it would be. Now to pack. And get a plane ticket. And find a place to stay. Ahh, so much to do ******* Where did we go wrong man? I mean I thought we were perfect together! I dont know how she could just stand there and look so bored. I thought she loved me She did man, she just doesnt anymore. JC retorted. Joey Fatone sighed. He had called JC a few minutes after Roxanne had left to see what was up and was greeted with depressed sobs on the other side of the line. He had rushed to his friends house almost immediately. Yeah, I guess youre right. He didnt know what to say. He had never been in a major breakup before. But wherever he could help out, he would. And he was not about to stay at his house while JC suffered by himself. I dont know why you insisted on rushing over here. You really didnt have to But I wanted to. You know I hate seeing my friends in pain, and you are one of my best friends. And youre in pain. So hey, put two and two together Thanks Joey. You make me feel so special. You know I try. Joey smiled coyly. Anyway, Im sure Ive taken up too much of your time already and I really need to get some shut eye. Do you need me to tuck you in? he asked sweetly. JC just smiled. No, I think Ill be alright. Then I will be leaving you now, Joey announced as he walked to the same door Roxanne had walked out of only an hour earlier. JCs eyes softened as he spoke again. Joey, I just...thank you. He understood. No problem. The two men stood facing each other for a while, smiling appreciatively at one another. Joey eventually nodded at his friend and walked out of his house. JC sighed at the door in front of him. He couldnt stay there. *NSYNC had been given a rare vacation. And a rather long one at that. Two months. When hed first heard, he couldnt even believe it. But now that it had come, he was too happy for words. Now that it had come, he would have time to himself to get over Roxanne. And he would, if it were the last thing hed do. He would get over her. But he couldnt stay in Orlando. He had to go somewhere else. Maybe back home to Maryland, maybe to another country to relax. No, he could go to the place that always held comfort for him. California. As clich as it sounded. The golden state had always held a sort of luxurious solace for him. No matter what plagued his mind, California would make him forget about it. California would make him forget about her. California would make him forget about everything. But first he had to pack. And get a plane ticket. And find a place to stay. Ugh, so much to do |
