Saturday 22nd May 2004
We spent last Saturday getting over the excitement of the whalesharks from the previous day.  Mark and Claire arrived from Coral Bay that afternoon and we cooked a big meal together.

The next day we decided to treat ourselves to some more diving and went on a trip to the Murion Islands, which are around 12km offshore.  We had two excellent dives and saw sharks, dolphins, octopii (much to Melanie's delight) and sting rays, amongst lots of other exciting stuff.

However once again, the standard of dive guiding was not particularly high.  On the first dive, the guide swam much to quickly, lost the boat, surfaced to try and find the boat and promptly lost all of the divers.  On the second dive we had a different guide who also managed to lose all the divers.  Comedy!!!

On Monday, we spent the day at Turquoise Bay which is a very picturesque beach, with some excellent snorkelling, providing you avoid getting caught in the rip current and swept out to sea as happened to one guy the week before!  However we survived this and spent the next day exploring the Cape Range National Park in a car that we hired with Claire and Mark.  We went on a short cruise up Yardie Creek, saw some very pretty coast line, and spotted lots of wildlife, including kangaroos (lots of!), spiders, and a huge lizard (2m long).

Late on Tuesday night we caught the bus for the epic trip to Broome.  The bus left Exmouth at 12.20am and arrived at Broome at 6.40pm.  On the way we hit a kangaroo in the middle of the night.

Broome is quite a laid back little town that used to be the centre of the Pearling Industry in the Region.  It is also where Cable Beach can be found which is rated as one of the world's top five beaches.  We went there on Thursday afternoon but didn't stay long as there were stingers in the water.  So instead we spent a couple of hours looking at some enormous crocodiles in the Broome Crocodile Farm.

We have been spending today getting ready for our Kimberley adventure.  This starts tomorrow and takes us on a 9 day adventure through to Darwin.......
