The first part of last week was quite stormy and we couldn�t dive for a few days. This meant lots of studying and I have now passed my science exams and can identify (in latin!) a whole host of coral.
The weather picked up in the second half of the week and Wednesday and Thursday were spent getting practice at applying the monitoring techniques underwater. I then took part in the expeditions first proper monitoring dive on Friday, so we are well under way now...
We do seem to be a little jinxed with mechanical things - one of the vans broke down during the week, the drive belts on both compressors have snapped and one of the boats has been out of action all week whilst the engine gets fixed! We�re hopeful that things should be running a little more smoothly next week.....but this is Mexico so you never know! In the worst case scenario we will be forced to spend a couple of days relaxing on the beach - how tough is that?!?!
