| Talking of guns there are 5 to find, and all are as different as chalk and cheese: the two handguns known as Ivory and Ebony, have to be my fave weaponry (although others come close), you can run around with these, firing away merrily at demon flesh, it's all so much fun, while the shotgun takes a while to reload after each blast, and the grenade gun takes an age to reload but obviously has the most destructive power and nice explosions too, but it has another weakness, that being the weight, unlike most of Dante's other guns, he can not fire while jumping, and that's only 3 of them. Each of these guns can be equipped at anytime (first obtaining them obviously) and then can be used at anytime without worrying about a slide towards ammo drought as already stated earlier on. It's up to you what you want to use, and that goes for Dante's power source also being the Alastor sword and Ifrit Gloves, obviously better results are found with the guns or powers more suited to killing off a certain enemy, you are never put in to a situation where you are forced to use a certain gun (apart from the underwater sections, which there aren't much of), DMC is all your game, decisions in combat are all yours to make. The island setting is gorgeous from the beginning path an orange sky glows brightly with a few birds flying in view, and an ancient looking path and face on building are your greetings to this island. For one thing everything looks physically solid, the reason being the full 3D game engine, this wasn't pointless, as the time paid to create has certainly came together over that time. The lighting and texture detail are 100% perfect, any faults being found, would have to be scoured for hours and hours in one location, cause if there is any graphical problems, they certainly aren't on the surface, just wait until you see the moving bowels of the underworld. The presentation must also receive a massive mention, as this is no ordinary retro style front, the logos and the opening screen are brilliant, while the in game menus including the fantastic gun selection screen (which shows the chosen gun in a close up view firing), it's all remarkable stuff, well at the end of the day they are just screens.....but, well I love them. There is one big problem (problem to some) and that's the fact that it happens to be a shoddy PAL conversion, meaning big, black ugly borders, I must say that this does spoil the game, as a better conversion would have apparently made the game slightly faster, and obviously fuller. Anyone with a 60hz compatible TV will yell out with utter frustration at the fact that it can't be played in that resolution, but at the end of the day, it doesn't spoil the experience completely, HELL NO!.As I haven't played any of the import versions, I know no difference, but still I feel sorry for those who have and others with the 60hz TV's. Devil May Cry: A name, which I wish to hear again, and by Mikami-San's comments in which he said "I would like it to become a series", and by the end of the game sequel hints, hopefully there will be more from Dante and friends, it certainly is looking that way. Anyways the game under review is a groundbreaking emergence in to the action genre, what other game gives you this power and strength? Fantastic bosses and visuals add to the already huge appeal that this game has, but it's certainly not perfect...far from it, it has the odd flaw that needs sorted out if they were to make a sequel most of which were discussed in the review, but certainly nothing that prevents this from being a must have title!"
