Opinions Round-Up:

"The survival horror-genre has certainly been reborn with this action-packed game: gone are the tiny rooms where hordes of zombies would feast upon your flesh, in are the gigantic animated rooms of the castle and the breathtaking outdoor scenes of a brilliant full 3D engine. The action is something the world has never seen before and boy is it good! The combat system is intuitive and easy to understand, kill monsters and collect orbs which can be used for upgrading, more killing, better moves; get the picture?
The excellent camera work in the game is well... excellent, it's like being in your own movie, but like any movie, this game has its flaws.
The camera can be against you sometimes though, as you'll find it hard often to judge jumping distance and depth.
Dante (the good guy) is such a cool dude, you're bound to have fun slashin' and shootin' at your merciless foes, he's truly a piece of art, but hey... so is the rest of the game. Another good feature is the fact that while in battle, the surroundings become transparent, allowing you to see the enemy, not giving him a chance to attack off-screen (remember Onimusha?) Also the bosses are vastly improved: in the old days big bully bosses were sluggish and very slow, being their weak point, but not now! The game boosts bad guys the size of houses with spiders looking like umm... really big spiders, but still it would maintain tremendous speed and agility.
The main downpoint is probably the longevity (I completed the game in two days myself) although you'd be happy to start again and complete the game on hard, or try to unlock the secret missions you'll go mad!
But none of the above would be complete without a fascinating rock-sound to accompany your battles against evil. Normally, a Gothic church-type theme would fill your room while playing, once in a fight it's electric guitars everywhere, it's matrix-tastic!
Truly, a game with one of the best visuals ever seen on PS2 and gameplay to make children weep, exceptional!"
