Diseases - The most recent diseases that have swept through some lion populations are feline distemper and feline aids.
Parasites - Like most furry creatures, lions are susceptible to fleas and ticks, but it is flies and bees that are far more irritating.
Predators - Lion share the top of the food chain with a few other wild cats, as well as the hyena. It should be noted, however, that

most feline species have the habit of killing the young of the other cat species when given the opportunity. This behavior might be used to reduce the competition for food. Also, being one of the largest predators of the area, lions are not preyed upon, at least not in the convention sense. However, lions that are old, sick, or badly injured are susceptible to attacks (especially when alone) from hyenas, which will take advantage of a possible feast upon feline. Elephants have also been known to kill lions when the chance arises.
But by far, man is the most dangerous predator lions have. Lions have been hunted by humans, mostly for the simple adventure and/or the prestige of a dangerous pursuit.
