| I usually use this as an outline to my rituals and then make any modifications i find appropriate. Remember that this won't necessarily work for you but will give you an idea. Firstly, I decorate my altar with flowers of the season or other things I think fit in with the purpose of the ritual. For example, if you are celebrating a harvest festival then fruits and vegetables could be used, or corn and wheat... whatever feels right to you. I have on my altar a glass bottle and a silver chalice. I fill the bottle with wine or juice and then pour half of it into my chalice. I save the other half for later. I also have a silver candle holder which holds three candles: one for the god, one for the goddess and one for my element which is fire (my altar sits in the south) I light these candles. I try to use a green candle for the goddess and a red one for the god, but living where I do (a tiny village in Scotland) it can be hard getting hold of coloured candles, except at christmas, so I sometimes just use white candles. Then, I outline my working area with a circle of tealights. I sprinkle these with ground cinnamon for protection. I also put some incense in the East to represent Air, water in the West to represent Water and some salt in the North to represent Earth. There is already a candle in the South for Fire. When all the candles and incense are lit, I stand in the centre and cast my circle. Once the circle has been cast I do what ever needs to be done. This usually includes: Invoking the God and Goddess Invoking Specific Gods and Goddesses Celebrating the Sabbat or Esbat Spell Work Taking Bread and Wine Closing the Circle Eventually there will be more information on the different parts of a typical ritual mentioned above but this will have to do for now. If you have any questions about these things and just can't wait then mail me :) Most Wiccans and Pagans perform a ritual on special days of the year. These are days which celebrate special events in the year such as the beginning of Spring or the end of the year.
