Protection and cleansing of the home
Over the months, I have had many come and ask me " how can I stop unwanted
energies infiltrating my house/family? So this month, I have decided to include
for those who wish it, an article on how to cleanse and protect your surroundings and those who share your personal space..
Firstly, you will need a few items..All these items can be had rather inexpensively, either from the local market, or through a specialty shop which sells these goods..I will add here a " shopping list " of things you will need.. Feel free to add to it as you see fit or you can go with what I have here, either is fine..
1). A sage smudge wand - these can be had from occult shops, or if you are a
greenthumb, you might consider growing your own sage crop so that you have it
at all times..Sage is an herb that is very useful for clearing out negative energies that seem somehow to collect around us and are not easily gotten rid of..If you plan on growing your own, all you have to do is harvest and dry it, and then tie it into bundles and burn it much like you would incense..
2). Mugwort essential oil, and lemon balm essential oil..If these oils cannot be had, the fresh herbs themselves will do..If you can come by the essential oils themselves, then blend 5 drops of each in some water, and use this for scattering drops around your home..If you like, you can also add this mixture to a scent burner to give off the aroma around your home..If using both fresh herbs, these can be brewed into a tea into which you can add honey to taste..This is known as visionary tea and is quite safe for consumption..It bears noting here that essential oils themselves are NOT safe for internal consumption..This means simply, do not drink them..
3). Ordinary table salt, or if you're feeling fanciful, some coarse sea salt..Add a goodly handful of this to a bath..This also clears negative energies from your physical body..It's called a lustral bath..Please don't wash your hair with it..You'll find it unmanageable..
4). Mood music of your choice..This is basically just to set the mood as you
cleanse..My personal favorite here is a compilation album of american indian
chants called " Sacred Spirit "..Even better if you know the words to the chants and sing along with them while you clear the negativity..
Now then, having acquired all these things, you will need to make sure there
are no disturbances to you for at least a good couple of hours..This is not
something that should be rushed..Take the phone off the hook..Put a " do not
disturb " sign on your door..tell the other half to take the kids out for a little while..Light the sage, and making sure all exits to your house are closed, and all windows too, waft the smoke all through your house..If you feel that some areas require more than others, spend extra time in those and really give it a good clean.. Once this has been done, you can then scatter droplets of the visionary potion in all the rooms of your house..This is to heighten your senses and make for clearer awareness..If you have chosen to actually make
the visionary tea, drink some at this time..Feel it cleansing all negativity
from your inner being..Allow it to impart clear vision to you..
When you have finished this part of the ritual, open all doors and windows and
allow the air to come in and carry the negativity from your house..Work hand in
hand with this element.." See ", the negative leaving, and " feel " the positive taking over..Charge your house with purity and positive energy..When you feel this has been accomplished, you may then close all the doors and windows..Then go and run your lustral bath..You might find it helpful to light candles and/or play music in the background to aid you in relaxation..Let the saltwater remove negativity from you, and charge yourself with positive energies..Breathe them in as you visualize..Now you have completed the cleansing process, it is time to extend a wall of protection around your home..
Most people have their own ways for doing this.. Some use a spell involving
the use of a different key for each door in the house, others use a simple candle spell..These are both nice, and whatever you feel is best for you, will no doubt be fine..For those who are a little more adept in the visualization department, I have another suggestion..Think of a color that, to YOU, represents protection..Something you feel would be off-putting to anyone who should not be there..Once you have chosen your color, see it in your mind's eye..Then, begin to " push " forward with your will and intent, and do this until you see the whole of your property engulfed within this protective color, which is acting as a shield..Charge it with protective energies..You can give power thoughts or assign power words to it..Ask the protection of the Divine to be set into it if you wish..
You may find it is necessary to repeat these steps now and then to occasionally
rid yourself and your home of pent up negativity and general bad feeling..This
should keep undesirables from wanting to cause you problems..But with
anything, this method is not foolproof - and magick is only as strong as the
practitioner..This is not a solution for a burglar alarm or a guard dog, but it is a safe alternative, and a non - threatening way to keep your house under YOUR protection..
