Definitions
Hoax - Something that is not real. In Sonic terms, a hoax occurs
when you take a screenshot of a game and alter it in a way so that it is no
longer true to the original game. For example, you can take a screenshot
of Sonic and change his coloring so that he is green instead of blue.
Sonic never appears green in the game, so this is a hoax. A good hoax
always looks like it could be real.
Pixel – The smallest component of a picture. Imagine a picture
as a spreadsheet and each cell is a pixel. As all of the cells make
up a spreadsheet, so do all of the pixels make up a picture.
Bitmap (.bmp) – A file format for saving pictures. Pictures
saved as .bmp should be converted to either .jpg or .gif before displaying
them on the Internet.
JPEG (.jpg) – A file format for saving pictures. The picture
is compressed by removing or altering pixels, thus making the file size smaller.
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.
GIF (.gif) – A file format for saving pictures. Only 256 colors
can be used. GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format.
Emulator – A program designed to imitate an original video game console.
Files, which have been coded from a video game cartridge, can be selected
so that you can play a game.
Screenshot – A snapshot or picture.
