Sonic Triple Trouble
Information

Background:  Following Sonic Chaos is Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble (Sonic Triple Trouble for short), which is also known as Sonic and Tails 2.  Both Sonic and Tails are playable characters and have new moves and items to help them in their quest.  Our heroes will need all the help they can get since not only do they have to worry about Dr. Robotnik, but also two new characters:  Knuckles the Echidna and Nack the Weasel.

Story:  Dr. Robotnik was testing his most powerful weapon when one of his assistants goofed, creating an explosion.  As a result, five Chaos Emeralds flew across Mobius.  Sonic and Tails must find the Chaos Emeralds, especially since Dr. Robotnik already has one.  Knuckles has been tricked into thinking that Sonic and Tails will steal all the Chaos Emeralds, while Nack thinks that he can sell the Chaos Emeralds for a hefty sum.

Levels:  There are six levels:

Great Turquoise Zone
Sunset Park Zone
Meta Junglira Zone
Robotnik Winter Zone
Tidal Plant Zone
Atomic Destroyer Zone

Like the prior Sonic Game Gear games, each Zone has three Acts.

Chaos Emeralds:  Since Robotnik has the sixth Chaos Emerald, only five emeralds can be collected in the game.  (Similar to previous Sonic Game Gear games, Sonic cannot transform into Super Sonic.)  This time around, Tails can also collect Chaos Emeralds.  In each Zone for Acts 1 and 2 there is a monitor with the picture of a Chaos Emerald displayed.  If Sonic or Tails has 50 rings, they can break this monitor and enter the special stage.

There are two different types of special stages:  2-D and 3-D.  In the 2-D stages, Sonic and Tails explore a maze and must reach the end before time expires.  In the 3-D stages, Sonic and Tails ride in the bi-plane and try to collect 80 rings.  If Sonic and Tails finish the maze or collect 80 rings, they will face Nack to try and get a Chaos Emerald.

Miscellaneous:  Some moves have been added since Sonic Chaos.  Both Sonic and Tails can perform the Flying Spin Attack, which allows them to turn into a ball when falling in midair.  Sonic can also do the Strike Dash, which allows him to be invincible for a couple seconds while dashing forward.  Tails can now try to fly in midair, but he cannot move upwards.

There are also new items for Sonic Triple Trouble.  If the monitor holding a Marker is broken, it will save the place and time in the act when the character dies.  Tails has an item called Hyper Heli-Tails, which allows him to fly quickly for a short period of time.  Tails also has the Sea Fox, which is a submarine that can shoot torpedoes.  Sonic can use a Jet Board in the snow and Propeller Shoes to swim quickly underwater.

Similar to previous games, there are four endings to Sonic Chaos (i.e. a good and bad ending for both Sonic and Tails).  If Sonic or Tails fails to collect all of the Chaos Emeralds, “Try Again” will appear and no credits will be displayed.  If Sonic or Tails collects all Chaos Emeralds, there will be a nice picture displayed as the credits roll by.
