Sonic fights with some swatbots, complaining that he's wasting his time.  Robotnik watches Sonic, explaining to Snively that the swatbots were sent to help him find information.  Grabbing piles of printed paper, Robotnik unveils his newest creation:  a Exceptionally Versatile Evolvanoid, or E.V.E. for short.  E.V.E. was made out of "sub-microscopic component parts," which are hard to destroy.  Robotnik gives E.V.E. the data he collected, and she begins to execute her programming.

Sonic and Tails walk outside, talking about the defeated swatbots.  After Sonic asks for a challenge, a robotic hand appears from the ground and grabs his leg.  The robot looks similar to a swatbot and starts shooting at Sonic.  Sonic runs to a tree and gets the robot's attention.  The robot fires at Sonic, who runs out of the way.  The tree falls onto the robot, destroying it.  Sonic decides to head back to Knothole to ask Rotor about the new robot.

Robotnik is not disappointed by the robot's defeat, knowing that E.V.E. will perform better next time.  He explains to Snively that E.V.E. was created from his brain cells and cells from one of Sonic's quills.

A robot begins to form from the ground.  Sonic and Tails continue to walk until they hear a robot approaching.  The robot, which looks like a buzzbomber, begins to shoot at Sonic and Tails.  Sonic runs up a cliff as the robot follows close behind.  The robot is unable to stop, crashing into the cliff.  Sonic and Tails look at the robot, which appears to be changing again.

Robotnik is still not worried, knowing that E.V.E. will continue to surpass her limitations.  Sonic appears behind Robotnik, and another robot appears (which looks like a cobra).  The robot wraps itself around Sonic, squeezing him.  Using a Sonic spin, Sonic escapes and manages to tie the robot snake into a knot.  The robot begins to transform again.

Sonic Art page - 1 page

E.V.E. appears and introduces herself.  Continuing, she says that she will surpass her limitations and that her main limitation is Robotnik.  Robotnik is shocked and says that he was the one that created her.  E.V.E. says that Robotnik's cells did not give her intelligence but a sense of evil.  As a result, Sonic's cells, which gave her logic, overpowered the effect of Robotnik's cells.  E.V.E. knows that she is not Robotnik's servant and shoots laser beams from her eyes.  Robotnik disappears, leaving only a trail of smoke.

E.V.E. decides to fulfill her programming by destroying Sonic.  Sonic tells her that her main limitation is her own programming.  If she is able to surpass her programming, then she can take advantage of all of her potential.  E.V.E. agrees with Sonic's theory, then disappears into outer space.

Tails is impressed with Sonic, who says he was just lucky.  They leave Snively to mourn the loss of Robotnik.  Yet Sonic can't help but think that it isn't the end of Robotnik.

(To be concluded in the next issue.)
