Harvest Moon
Magical Melody Review

Concept
This time around, Marvelous Intereactive did almost everything right.  They included everything the Harvest Moon world needs and all its best features and characters (though I apoligize to Karen fans, she's not here).  The only thing that is kind of annoying is that the stamina is now extremely limiting.  They give you a meter to show you how much you have left, but it runs out pretty fast.  Over the course of the game, you can upgrade your tools to make them use less, and you can get power berries to increase it, but it's still pretty annoying and eating is just too time consuming.  Thankfully, everything else just about perfect! Score:
4/5
Graphics
Not the best graphics we've seen this generation (definitely not the best), but they really are in the Harvest Moon style and spirit. Score:
4/5
Sound
The background tunes this time around are actually really catchy, rather than annoying; so much that you'll be hearing them even after you shut the game off.  Some of the characters have really weird voice clips (right as you talk to them, wait til you meet Dan), but they're really funny to hear. Score:
5/5
Playability
The controls of this new installment will take a bit of getting used to.  They picked some odd buttons to assign actions to (X to use tools?!), but it's pretty natural once you are used to it.  Also, the character seems really slow at first. Score:
3/5
Entertainment
Probably the most entertaining game in the Harvest Moon series in years.  There's so much to do, and the new multiplayer mini-games add something else fun to do. Score:
5/5
Replay Value
High.  There is just so much to do and so many choices to choose.  Do you want to be a boy or a girl?  Which of the three locations do you want to start at?  Do I want to purchase this property now or save up some money and buy THAT property?  Every game could be a whole new adventure! Score:
5/5
