| Terry Silver began his musical adventure as a piper in the RAF Volunteer Pipe and Trumpet Bands in 1958 - 59, the discovered jazz in 1960 and went on to perform in various jazz and dance bands in the UK and Europe while serving in the RAF. In 1964 he got a taste of folk music and never looked back. Inspired by Tommy Makem of the Clancy Brothers, and Ciaran Bourke of the Dubliners, he took up the whistle, and over the next decade became proficient in guitar, banjo and mandolin as well. His solo musical career took him as far afield as Bermuda and Hong Kong, and he also was a founding member of "Fool's Gold" a three part harmony group, and "No Turn Unstoned". A stalwart supporter of the London folk scene, he ran the Uxbridge Folk Club for years, and is a loyal member of Maidenhead Folk Club. Since 1995 Terry has been performing with Ray Martin and Nigel Thornbury doing costume themed entertainment for corporate events, and also with Mike Martin and Martyn Oram as The O'Reeley's - an Irish party music trio. And of course, when circumstances permit, he's the 'other half' of the duo SilverSmith! |
