| Gus (the theater cat) Nicknames: Gus is his nickname� his real name is Asparagus, but that�s such a fuss to pronounce. He�s not the same cat as Asparagus in the film , though. Age: Elder Family: Asparagus (son,) Physical Appearance: Mostly gray and pale brown. �His coat�s very shabby, as thin as a rake, and he suffers from palsy, which makes his paws shake.� His voice trembles and he�s almost as dilapidated as Grizabella. The Naming of Gus: (GUSS) Gus is normally short for Augustus, a name meaning venerable or majestic, but this one is short for Asparagus. Asparagus is a green vegetable which grows in stalks. (See also ASPARAGUS) Description: Gus was once a great actor, but has since too old for the theater. His greatest �creation� as an actor was Fireforfiddle, the Fiend of the Fell. During his song, he sees a vision of this great creation and thinks of his younger days.
