Family: Gus (father?) The Naming of Asparagus: (ah SPAYR ah guss) Asparagus is a green vegetable which grows in stalks. T.S. Eliot probably used this for the theater cat�s name because it sounds neat. Description: There�s really two Asparagus�s in CATS: this one and the theater cat. The film is the only version where they are two separate cats. Let�s speculate that Gus is Asparagus�s father and they have the same name.
