| Demeter Nicknames: Dem, Demi Age: Adult Mate: Munkustrap Family: Bombalurina (twin sister) Physical Appearance: Gold with black markings The Naming of Demeter: (Di MEE terr) Demeter was the goddess of agriculture in Greek mythology. When Persephone, her daughter, was kidnapped by Hades, Demeter was so sad that all the plants died. Hades agreed to let Persephone visit Demeter for half the year. When the two were together, the world flourished. When apart, the plants died, thus arising the myth of why we have seasons. Demeter was probably named thus because Greek mythology was most likely considered extremely pagan back in T.S. Eliot�s day. I think Andrew Lloyd Webber chose her to be the character who can feel extreme happiness and sorrow because of the myths. Description: Demeter seems to be a bit paranoid because she�s always yelling, �Macavity!� She and the Hidden Paw seem to have a past. Demeter tries to accept Grizabella back into the tribe, but can�t seem to bring herself to do it.
