My Accutane Journal
Week Seventeen: May 25th - 31st 2003
Well, well, well.  Once again it's been a long time since I last updated this page.  Sorry about that, I've just been extremely busy.  I'm back at my old job at a pharmacy and am loving it. (I want to be a pharmacist by the way)  But unfortunately, it takes up a lot of my time, so I don't get to this page that often.  Hope all of you are having a good summer so far!

Anyhow, about this Accutane stuff, *L*...it's going fairly well.  I have no zits, but two lingering scabs just cause it takes months for my skin to heal.  I'm optimistic about them being gone in a few days or so though, so I'm not too worried.  My biggest problem now is the dryness.  Complex 15 is great, but it seems to need a few reapplications throughout the day, and I can't do that at work, so by the end of the day I am completely dried out.  Also, my nose is extremely nasty inside, it is always sort of bloody, and very crusty...disgusting, I know, but the truth nonetheless.  Other than that, the side effects seem to have subsided (save the chapped lips).  I only have one more pack of Accutane left to go and I am ecstatic.  I think that once the drug is out of my system, some of the scarring will get much better.  Then in six months I get to get my skin resurfaced!  Yay, I'm thinking microdermabrasion will do the trick because my scarring is superficial, none of those deep ones.  I'm kind of sad that I have to wait that long, but oh well, that's the least of my worries.  I can't believe this is almost over, it seems like yesterday that I took my first pill, so for those of you out there just starting...don't worry, it'll be over sooner than you think!  And it DOES get better no matter how bad it may seem.

My number one advice....DON'T PICK.  No matter WHAT!  Believe me, I speak from experience...I think I mostly created the bad times I was having because I couldn't stop scratching at the scabs.  Now I have scars that I created for myself....grrr...I'm so dumb.  Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

I guess I don't really have much to say other than that, my next dermatologist visit is this wednesday, so I wonder what he'll have to say.  Oh yay, more blood tests...yucky.  I'm actually getting so used to them that I can watch the nurses poke the needle in...before I had to turn away.  Hehe, the skills you gain from being on Accutane....

Anyhow, I will talk to you all next week hopefully, take care all!
