The slow and gentle motions prescribed by tai chi are extremely relaxing to do and to watch. You can never be too young or too healthy to do tai chi. The ancient Taoists invented this system of exercise to preserve their health, mind and body and to prevent aging. The movements are slow and fluid, evenly defined and circular, ever interchanging and ever interweaving. Each and every movement flows effortlessly from one into the next, evolving forward or backward. Tai chi is relaxation, a meditation in motion, balance and harmony of the body and mind as one. YOGA The practice of yoga, believed to have originated 5,000 years ago in India, never seems to go out of style. Most people grasp that yoga is about more than stretching and body movement, but beyond this there are some basic tenets and goals. Yoga is a Sanskrit term meaning yoke or union, and its central idea is one of balance. Yoga is the process of recognizing the identification of the inner self with the thinking brain; and separating the two, allowing the inner self to stand in its own true form; while understanding that one can choose to identify with any role at other times. In yoga, balance means more than the ability to stand on one foot without falling over. It's about remaining mentally balanced when under stress. If you find yourself under extreme stress are you able remain balanced, with your mind and stay in tune with your heart? In contrast to most other forms of exercise, yoga is about the release of one's ego. Yoga practitioners work towards accepting whatever level they are at. Weightlifting is all about judgment, you judge how much weight you're lifting or how many reps you are able to complete and compare it to others. In yoga, you do not judge yourself or anyone whom is doing yoga. You simply work towards finding balance between your heart & mind to accept that this is what yoga does for you. You do not have to take much of your time to do Yoga just like any other type of form of excersize. You just have to take the time to do it. In general, no matter what form of healing you take on and decide to use. The form must be continued if you so want it to give you the healing qaulities it is to give. Those whom decide that " Oh I look and feel so much better, guess I can just stop now" will not recieve the full exstent of its healing. Remember taking the time does not neccessarily mean hours a day. You can just take a simple 15 to 30 minutes a day or every other day and donate it to yourself. Those of you whom say you do not have the time to take for yourself, are just fooling yourself in believing so. Trying to keep in mind that you are the only one that can keep yourself in check. Without your health, soundness of mind and spirit, you have nothing to give to those you care for.
