Fabletown Virtual Library Information Desk
|
As you walk up to the large desk, behind it you see the back of a young woman with shoulder length dark red hair. She is contemplating several large stacks of books on a slightly smaller table. Behind that table are five large doors of varying colors. Looking down at the large desk in front of you, you see on the center of the desk a pad of paper and pen. On the right side of the desk, a large book is open. The left page is filled with handwritten scribbles while the right page is empty. On the left side of the desk there are several stacks of papers. You cough lightly and the woman turns around. She smiles at you as she pushes her metal blue glasses up on her nose framing her pale blue eyes, "Oh, hello and welcome. I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long. As you can see, I have a lot of work to do. But as it is my job as librarian to help people, here I am. I have some information here about Fables and Fabletown and about other places of great interest," she pauses slightly to pick up three pieces of paper from the stacks on the left side of the desk. "If you are new to Fabletown, please read this welcome letter from the creator Bill Willingham with a preface by me. Here is a free copy of the first issue of Fables. To pique your interest, here is an excerpt from 'A Wolf in the Fold,' a prose story from the first trade paperback," she turns slightly and motions behind her. "As you may have noticed, there are several doors behind me. They lead to different places of interest and you are welcome to go to any that you like," she points to the tan and blue door on the far left. "The first door on the left leads to the creator Bill Willingham's home," then she points towards the blue and white door. "The second door leads to the Fabletown Message Boards where you can talk to Bill Willingham and other Fables fans," she turns slightly towards the gray and light brown door. "The second door leads to the publisher's presentation of Fables," she turns to her left and points at the white and beige door. "The third door leads to the artist James Jean's Cover Gallery," she smiles softly as she motions towards the midnight blue door with a large silver star in the center. "Last, but not least, our gracious benefactor from afar Silva Shado, who has so graciously donated the space for this library, invites everyone to her home to see what other things interest her. She also constantly badgers me to remind people to sign her guestbook, which you can do right here," she points to a large book on the right hand corner of the desk, "The empty page on the right is where you can sign in and the page on the left is where others have already signed." "If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to write me a note and I will respond as soon as I can," she points to a pad of paper and pen in the middle of the desk then picks up another piece of paper from the last stack, "Here is the Library Directory. With this, you can find your way to the different sections of the library. Have a nice day," she smiles momentarily then turns around to again face the large piles of books. |
