| Chapter 31 Harry was hurt pretty awful when he fell off his broom so Madame Pomfrey felt it necessary to keep Harry in the Hospital Wing well into November. Most of Gryffindor and even some of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff came to visit him every week. Hermione always brought his homework and Ron brought the homework for the classes Hermione wasn't in. Harry didn't enjoy the time he did spend alone because his thoughts always ran to Lord Voldemort or Christina. One day when he was staring at the ceiling waiting for Ron to bring the rest of his homework he remembered that the Hogsmeade weekend was coming up. When Ron entered in with Harry's homework he told him about it. "Ron, I have to talk to you.", said Harry Ron sat down and put the books on Harry's table, "What about?" Harry took his eyes off the ceiling, "The Hogsmeade weekend is coming up,do you think Christina will let me go?" "The question is will Madame Pomfrey let you go?", laughed Ron. Harry smiled, "She will,I'm getting out of here on Friday, just in time for the trip. I just don't think Christina will let me go." Ron shrugged, "What do you care?" "Huh?" "Well, It's not like she's your girlfriend. She can't control you either way. It's your decision whether it's the right thing to do or not." Harry nodded. The next day Hermione came with Harry's books. Before she turned to leave Harry grabbed the hem of her sleeve. "Hermione, can I talk to you?" "Sure Harry, what is it?", Hermione said, sitting down next to him. "Hermione, do you think that you, Ron, and I will still be friends by the end of this year?" Hermione giggled, "Why would you ask that?" Harry looked at her gravely, "Haven't you noticed that you seem to be avoiding Ron?" Hermione laughed nervously, "Avoiding Ron? Of course not! That's ridiculous, but you're right Harry. I think it's time to let all arguments be settled and all quarrels come to an end. Will you be well for the Hogsmeade trip?" Harry sighed, "Yeah, but I have to ask Christina if it is right to go." "Well, I don't think you should. Who ever hurt you might try and get you there. First you should take your Occlumency lessons." Harry rolled his eyes. Hermione took it as a sign to leave and quickly got up. Before she walked out she turned around and said quietly to herself, "I hope Christina can learn to love him. He seems so unhappy. She's just the person who can make him the Harry I once knew. Ron and I can't do that any more." She shook her head and walked out. Friday finally came and Ron, Hermione, Christina, and Liz were all waiting for him. Christina jumped up and clapped her hands when she saw him. "Oh Harry! I am so glad to see you up on your feet!" She ran to him and gave him a hug but quickly let go, blushing. The five of them made their way to the Great Hall to have dinner. Harry sat next to Christina and before she had time to eat Harry tapped her on the shoulder. "Um, Christina, can I ask you something?" "Sure, but make it quick. I'm starving" "Can I go to Hogsmeade tomarrow?" Harry gave her the most pitiful stare he could but it had no effect. Christina shook her head. "Absolutely not. That is out of the question! It is much too unsafe for you. Does what happened to you mean nothing? I do have good news though." "Yeah, what?" "I'm going to stay here with you and I'm sure the others will too. Right, Ron? Hermione? Liz?" The other three looked from one to the other. Ron spoke up first. "Well, would either of you mind if I didn't stay? I kind of wanted to go to Honeydukes to find some Sugar Quills. I'm all out and I'm afraid I'm getting sort of sugar dependant. You understand right mate?" Harry nodded but he didn't care. He hoped none of them would stay so he could spend the day with Christina. Harry looked at Hermione. At that moment Hermione was thinking the same thing Harry was. "I can't stay. I'm sorry but I really need a break from this castle and the next trip isn't for a month. You understand right?" This time Christina nodded, "Perfectly understandable in your case." Now everyone looked at Liz. She looked up from the book she was reading. Unlike everyone else she was much more blunt in her reaction. "Harry has Christina. I don't believe I'm needed. I'm not much fun any how. Plus I would love to see Hogsmeade. I'm surprised Christina doesn't." Christina smiled,"I've seen it. Plus I don't have much money on me." Harry was about to say that he had a good amount of gold upstairs in his trunk but he didn't want to say anything for fear Christina would want to leave. Saturday came and the five friends entered the Entrance Hall. Hermione hugged Harry and Christina and shuffled out the door with the rest of the students. Ron told them that he would buy both of them lots of candy and Zonko things while he was in Hogsmeade and intended not to have too much fun without them. Liz smiled and said that she just thought she'd relax and sightsee and if she saw anything she might get them something. When Harry and Christina saw the last of the students leave, Harry grabbed Christina by the hand and walked with her out into the beautiful fall afternoon. |
