James Sunderland lost his wife, Mary, three years ago to an unknown illness. He has become a total mess since his wife's passing; the pain he feels inside has become almost unbearable for him. One day he received a letter supposently from his late wife. It said that she was waiting for him in Silent Hill at their "special place." James does not know if the letter is just a hoax or if Mary could somehow be still alive; the letter, after all, was clearly written in Mary's handwriting. James decides to go to Silent Hill to find out if Mary could still be there waiting him, he is determined to find out the truth. Even though he has no clue where that "special place" that Mary mentioned in the letter could be, because according to him the whole town was their special place.
