a message from Simon Jonah Thomas

From the time the Lord first placed it upon my heart that He wanted me to establish a ministry dedicated to reaching across racial and social barriers for individuals to love, worship, and serve Him because He is Lord and not because they viewed Him as some type of Santa Claus existing only to satisfy their desires regardless of their lives or lfestyles, I wrestled with the thought of swimming against the tide.

Moreover, when the Lord let me know in a very unusual way on a trip to Chattanooga, TN that this was the city in which I was to establish the ministry I became very concerned since I know no one nor have any ties to the Chattanooga area.

However, I soon realized that it had quickly become "put up" or "shut up" time for  I was being called to do the very same thing I had preached and exhorted others to do over the years.

The obvious question is why should you financially support Jonah Ministries?

There are many ministries and churches that are quite popular today, but the doctrines they espouse are laced with the influence of cultural liberalism, feel good theology, and/or extra-biblical and eastern religions.

Under the banner of  "Developing A Servant's Heart", Jonah Ministries shall reach out to Christians and non Christians alike extolling them to develop a Romans 2:1-2 relationship with the Lord in their every day lives as a fundamental part of being a believer in Christ.

To paraphrase Martin Luther King, Jr., it is incumbent upon us all to be "Drum Majors for Christ". This is true of each of us regardless of our race or social status for we shall not stand before the Lord as members of a particular race or culture, but it shall be our individual commitment, submission, and obedience to the Lord by which our earthly lives shall have determined whether or not we lived for the one we call Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Since Jonah Ministries will never accept government funding your financial support in getting started will greatly assist us in making this vision a reality.

Also, because many of the individuals we reach out to may not have a church home, , we shall establish Gethsemane Bible Fellowship as a place of worship.

How much should you give? It is our prayer that you likewise be prayerful and allow the Lord to direct you for no donation is too large nor too small.

We also have a fundraising website at:

You might even find out how it was that the Lord revealed Chattanooga as the place for the ministry to be.

about the founder

Called a "preacher's preacher" and a "prayer warrior" it has been said that he has a unique ability to expound upon difficult subjects in a manner that makes it seem as though the topic is not difficult at all.

Simon Jonah Thomas has been an ordained minister for nearly thirty years and during that time has served as an associate minister, Director of Mid-week Prayer services, Pastor of Children's church, hospital Chaplain, Evangelist, and is a Christian writer published by Decision magazine, Union Gospel Press, and the author of a devotional book on prayer titled
Higher Than The Ceiling  published by Green Pastures Press (1992) that is still on the market.

Simon's life scripture is John 9:4 and he is committed to preaching in a manner that challenges individuals to truly accept Christ as Lord of their lives and to live out that profession of faith as ambassadors for Christ.

Whether preaching or teaching he tells all who will listen that merely saying you are a Christian is not enough, you MUST be involved in ministry however the Lord has equipped you!

Jonah Ministries

I would like to solicit prayers for a very dear friend who has embarked on a ministry that God has been leading him to for quite some time.

Simon Thomas and I have worked together for several years and I am excited for him as he goes where the Holy Spirit leads him.

Simon is a man of integrity who loves the Lord and who is following the Lord's lead to bring people to a close, trusting and serving relationship with Christ.

Simon is developing materials designed to reach across racial boundaries. There are no White Christians. There are no Black Christians. There are no Asian Christians. There are just Christians. As Simon puts it, "We shall not stand before the Lord as members of a particular race or culture, but based upon our individual commitment, submission, and obedience to the Lord will our earthly lives be viewed and tried."
