About Our Alumae Chapter

*West Orange County*

The West Orange County Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Kappa was founded in 1980 with

Shari Garay serving as our first president.  Before 1980, Orange County consisted of only one alumnae group.

But with freeway congestion and gas shortages, the alumnae group was re-organized with

more regional focal points:  North, West, and South Orange County.

Although we have women from places as far away as San Clemente, Oceanside, and Fullerton,

our region primarily encompasses Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Seal Beach,

Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Westminster, Garden Grove, and parts of Irvine.

(For the 2004-2005 year, the West Orange County Chapter is serving all of Orange County

which includes the North and South regions.)

West Orange County Alumnae consists of a very diverse group of women, from

recent graduates through retirement age as well as representing twenty various colleges

across the United States.  For the 2002-2003 year, our group had 37 members.

With their dues, it allows our chapter to register membership with National Sigma Kappa

and allows our group to support the National Sigma Kappa philanthropies,

as well as events and activities that support our sister collegiate chapter,

presently Epsilon Tau at Cal State University, Fullerton.

We are realistic about the busy schedules most of us have, so we welcome women to attend

one event or as many activities that fit into their schedule.  Those who pay dues will continue to

receive our quarterly newsletters with color photos that chronicle our events.

About Our Sister Collegiate Chapter

*Epsilon Tau – Cal State Fullerton*

Our sister collegiate chapter, assigned by National Sigma Kappa, is Epsilon Tau at Cal State Fullerton.

Their chapter house is within walking distance of campus and the most recent renovation, painting,

and decorating projects were completed in fall 2002.  Sixteen women can live in the house with their

House Director living on the premises.  After fall 2002 recruitment, there were more than 70 actives

at Epsilon Tau.  During 2002-2003, five of our alum group women served on Advisory Board for the chapter.

Two Sigma Kappa Triangles have featured California State University, Fullerton women

(Spring 2002 and Winter 2003).
