This past year was a year of lessons learned. First there where changes made to the youth show. First was the change of format from an open show to a 4-H format show. Second was was the change of location from our horse arena to the grandstand arena. Third was the shortened time frame. In short most of this did not go well, in regards to the change of format to a 4-H style show I was not pleased. First the number of events got cut in half, although with the decrease in arena time we where given made some since. Now to look at the divisions, this is where I my self felt really bad. I don't know why but for some reason they never got straitened out until my finally copy of results where sent to the office for premiums. Last was the change of arenas, serf ice it to say that I was not pleased with this.
In the open adult classes we had a very good show that went smooth as a whistle. Our Tuesday group again was fun and energetic, full of people who where there to enjoy the show, and if they did happen to win an event that was just a bonus. Our Thursday group again was competitive and full of surprises. Especially when Amanda Kammers on Thought Titan during speed barrels accidentally jumped over the last barrel. After we all stopped laughing we all (including Amanda) agreed on a no time, due to Titan jumped over the wrong half of the barrel.
First and foremost I plan to change the open youth show back to the format that we have done before and not the 4-H format. I also plan to change back to awarding medals to the winners instead of premiums. Finally I plan to also hold the whole show in our horse arena. I ask that anyone that was unhappy with the show this past year please came back this next year and see how I prefer to run a show.
For the adults I am working on trying to pull more riders to join us. In all things the more the merrier. So please talk to your friends and encourage them to come to the fair and have a good time.
