Today was supposed to be our snorkelling trip to Tenacatita with Luis. But yesterday the ocean had been really rough, and it looked about the same today. We decided to postpone our trip, and head into Manzanillo for a little shopping excursion day. Dad would go to Barra and let Luis know that we would come on Tuesday instead. So, we hopped aboard the 30 peso bus (complete with a spaghetti western movie playing) and headed off into Manzanillo searching for the ever elusive "board shorts" for the girls.
The downtown shopping area was not quite what the girls had expected. It was busy, noisy, and with people jostling on narrow sidewalks. No board shorts to be had.
Greg and I had both had a mild bout of old Montezuma's revenge during the night, but it was Jeff who seemed to have it worse. Just mostly nauseous. So he and Greg left early. They ended up taking a cab home instead of the bus after Jeff bolted across 3 lanes of traffic to find an alley to throw up in. He never actually did, but they didn't want to chance having to be on the bus that long. In the meantime, we headed off to Manzanillo Plaza. The girls decided this was more like it. Lots of shops with surf gear, and bathing suits. Christy never did find a pair of board shorts that were suitable, but did buy a key chain and a toe ring. Last of the big time spenders. Stacey and Kelsey both bought shorts and T-shirts. We started home, or tried to. The bus for Melaque doesn't stop at Manzanillo Plaza, only none of the bus drivers told us that. So after standing there asking each driver, a friendly passenger mentioned that we had to go to the Santiago transfer station and catch the bus from there.
Bob gave Jeff some of his Travellers diahhrea anti-biotics, but he didn't feel too much like eating. We went back to Alcatraz for supper, then bought Jeff a bun and made him some soup to go with it.
