Lucy is asleep in the trauma room. While John is in the lounge sleeping on the couch. Mark and Carol come in to talk to Lucy.

Mark: How are you Lucy?

Lucy: Ok I guess

Carol: Lucy the rape kit came back positive.

Lucy: God I knew it.

Carol: Lucy I hate to ask you this, but have you a Carter been intimate in the last 48 hours?

Lucy: Yes....

Mark: Ok Lucy we need to get you started on Retrovir and Epivir. You will need to take them for 4 weeks.....

Lucy: Damn it I never then thought about getting a STD.

Mark: Lucy dont worry it will be ok... I want to also get you started on estrogen pills to prevent...

Lucy: Me from getting pregnant. I really messed up this time.

Carol: Lucy I can call someone for you to talk to.

Lucy: A rape counselor.

Carol: Yes I can call right now for you.

Lucy: NO I dont want to talk to anyone.

Carol: Stop this you need to talk to someone.

Lucy: Fine Ill talk to someone, but it wont change what happen.

Carol: No it wont, but it could help you. Carter has been asking about you.

Lucy: Hes still here.

Carol: Of course he wants to help you through this.

Lucy: We have already been through this.

Carol: I know I just thought some sleep might do you some good.

Lucy: I still feel the some.

Carol: Ok then Ill be back to take you up to your room, Mark want to get you overnight just to be sure everything is ok.

Lucy: Fine I have nowhere to go anyways.

Carol exits to go call the rape counselor when she runs into Carter.

Carter: Carol how is she?

Carol: Well physically she will be ok, but emotionally it will take sometime.

Carter: Im going to see her.

Carol: John dont.

Carter: Why not? She still doesnt want to see me.

Carol: Im sorry she is going through a lot she feeling lost right now she really doesnt know how or what to feel.

Carter: Damn it why is she doing this to us. I should be in there with her and help her through this.....

Carol: I know John I really think she just needs sometime. Just give her sometime.

Carter: I just feel so helpless...

Carol: I know and I wish I could help you both, but its all up to Lucy right now.

Carter: Well let me know how she is doing?

Carol: Mark wants to keep her overnight to make sure she is ok. I m calling a rape counselor for her to talk to.

Carter: Tell her I love her.

Carol: I will

Carol makes that phone call. While Carter takes a look through the window. He sees Lucy sleeping ( as a tear falls down his cheek he whispers ) I love you Luce...

2 hours pass and Carol just got back from taking Lucy upstairs.

Meanwhile Carter has been working on patients trying to get his mind off of what is going on, but its not working.

Carter: Ok curtains 2 and 3 are clear and Exam 1 is also clear. What else is there?

Jerry: Carter you better slow down before everyone goes home on you.

Carter: Is there anyone else?

Jerry: Not right now.

Carter: Ok Im going on a break page me if anyone comes in.

Jerry: Ok

Carter cant wait any longer to see Lucy. He stops at the gift shop to get her some flowers and goes to her room. At Lucys room he sees her sleeping and doesnt want to wake her he leaves to flowers on the side table and goes to leave.

Lucy: John

Carter: I didnt mean to wake you.

Lucy: Its okay. Thank you for the flowers.

Carter: You dont have to thank me. I know you wanted sometimes, but I couldnt wait to see you. ( Giving her a kiss )

Lucy: I need to talk to you.

Carter: What is this?

Lucy: I have been thinking and to make this easy for you I wanted you to have this

( Taking her ring off )

Carter: What the hell is this? I dont want this.

Lucy: Carter dont make this any harder then it has to be.

Carter: What are you saying you dont want to get marry?

Lucy: Thats what Im saying.

Carter: NO Im not letting you do this.

Lucy: John dont. You have no choice. Just let it go.

Carter: Thats were you are wrong I do have a choice and I not letting you go.

Lucy: Carter Im done. Im not going to do this with you anymore. Please Leave NOW.

Carter: Damn it Lucy why are you doing this to me?

Lucy: To you thats what its all about YOU. Well I was the one who was attacked, I was the one who got beat up, I was the one who got RAPE. So no John Im not doing this to you. What cant stand me? Thats ok because I cant stand myself.

Carter: Lucy that is not what I meant and my feelings for you have not changed. I still love you no matter what we can get through this.

Lucy: No John we cant I cant I called my mom Im going to stay with her when I get out of here.

Carter: Your going to New York.

Lucy: Yeah Im leaving in the morning.

Carter: (Dropping to his knees and taking her by the hand ) Dont do this Luce

( Crying ) I love you I have loved you since the first time I laid eyes on you. I to spend the rest of my life with you. Dont go like this. If you need time Ill give you all the time you need. Please Luce dont go to New York I love you.

Lucy: Carter Im sorry , but thats what I want , what I need to do. Please Carter you need to leave now.

Carter: Fine then thats that just like that your letting it all go.

Lucy: Yeah ( Giving him the ring back )

Carter: No I gave that ring to you Its yours and I dont want it. ( Getting up and giving her a kiss on the forehead and softly whispering) I love you and I always will.

Carter leaves as he walks out Lucy watches him walk away and the tears start to fall down her face and in a very low voice she said.

Lucy: I love you John.

Carter is in the lounge when Carol walks in.

Carol: Carter what happen?

Carter: Lucy is leaving shes going to her moms.

Carol: New York?

Carter: She doesnt want to get marry.

Carol: Oh god Im sorry, but you are not letting her go are you.

Carter: Thats what she wants.

Carol: She has been through a lot Carter shes hurting and afraid, but I know she loves you with all her heart and you love her.

Carter: Yes I do I always will, but nothing I said was right to her.

Carol: Im just saying dont give up.

Carter: Why not? She did.

Carol: Well John she was rape and she is really scared. Lucy probably feels you hate her.

Carter: I dont and I could have helped her through this.

Carol: You still can just give her sometime.

Carter: Thanks Carol for the advice , but Im sleepy and Im going home. See you later.

Sometime pass and John feel a sleep on the lounge couch. Waking up he looks at the clock and leaves to go home finally.

Carol: John I thought you went home already.

Carter: Im going now good night.

Carol: Good night Carter......

Carter leaves the ER and makes his way to his jeep.

Carter: Yep and Im not going anywhere.

Carol: Way to go Carter.

Carter: No thank you Carol what you said made me realize what I needed to do.

Carol: Good Luck....

Carter: Thanks Im going to need it....

Carter makes his way upstairs....

Carter: Could you please tell me what time Ms. Knight will be released.

Nurse: She was released about a hour ago.

Carter: What! No. Are you sure?

Nurse: Yes she was feeling better and the doctor let her go home early.

Carter: Thanks.

Knowing Lucy thought he was working she might go home so she could get some clothes.

Carter rushes home to see if he can catch Lucy before she leaves.

Arriving at home Carter starts yelling through the house for Lucy.

Carter: Lucy, Lucy, Are you here? Luce

Making his way the to the bedroom. He sees that her clothes are gone and some of her things also. He falls down on the bed looking at her pillow he sees her ring. Picking up the ring he lays there for a few minutes he jumps up and heads out the door.
