Got sacked yesterday! All the people in my call center. I think the campaign we were doing was completely hopeless. Luckily, my agency called me that Georgeson wants me back on Friday. Me as well as some of the guys I'm having such a great time with. We went straight to the pub when they told us at 2 pm. Melbourne Cup was on, so we watched the race. Note to self: never get sacked again with Poms and Irish. They go straight to the pub to spend the money that they should have earned in the next few days. Paul, Phil, Ciaran and I went for a Chinatown meal afterwards and from there I went home. Had lunch with Ciaran today, and tonight he's coming for dinner. He lives close, which is nice. Phil's having his 23th birthday on Wednesday, and we're all invited too. Should be great fun. Paul lived in Holland for a while and keeps singing Dutch songs, or at least he tries.  His Dutch is terrible.

Not much else to tell. Sent my CV to the Heineken guy today after speaking to his PA. Hopefully I can get a job at the Oz Open, would be so cool!

Had my five minutes of fame yesterday morning on the radio. Was quite funny. It's difficult though to speak in Dutch about things that happen in English. I hate using many English words in my Dutch so was struggling a little. Still, it was fun.

So, a quiet night at home!  What have I been doing the past week?

Was very moody on Friday with the job not picking up again so decided to go to Coogee. After 1.5 hour of tanning, Paul texted me if I wanted to go for a Friday nite beer. Took the bus to the city and had a few beers with Paul and Carla, and relaxed at the Friday night market at the Rocks, where Mental as Anything was playing.

On Sunday I went to the Newtown festival with Paul and Carla. Fantastic people watching! There were 1000s of people, a lot of them very alternative. Many dikes too. Good DJ's, and another lazy afternoon with wines and food and good company. Wendy managed to cook a proper roast while she was pissed and with Paul & Pollie and Paul & Carla staying for dinner, we had a very merry night.

And Monday turned out to be my day!  Had arranged a few call center interviews, and even found a job already thanks to Graham when an agency called.

To cut a long story short, at 5.30 pm I walked out of DuPont with a job offer! A three month role at first, with sponsorship afterwards if I want it. Fantastic!!! Proper money, 8.30-4.30 working days and in finance.  I have worked for three days now and quite enjoy it. Have a lovely manager, and very nice colleagues. The work's standard accounts stuff. Not too exciting but quite useful to learn. The job is in North Sydney, which is very close to the city. Good stuff!

Monday night I caught up with Conor, who I'd met in Vietnam last May.  I love al these reunions here. Apart from the fact that he now had a watch rather than an alarm clock, nothing had changed.  Was great seeing him. He suggested going to the Opera House the next day to see Great Expectations, which we did. Ciaran came with us. Great play, but I was knackered after the first day of work and its overload of information.

Another social gathering last night: Phil turned 23, so we got together at the Watershed for a few beers. Had a great time again. The solly campaign sucked big time, but the friendships we got out of it are great.  We all feel extremely lucky that we were in this team together, and made friends so quickly.

Weekend's almost finished, shame!  When I had loads of spare time I wanted a job and now that I have a full time job, I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow!  Had a great weekend. Yesterday Ciaran texted me if I wanted to meet for a coffee in King Street , ended up spending most of the day together. Had lunch with Ciaran and Wendy at the Fishmarket in Pyrmont, fantastic! Will go again very soon, all the fresh fish, yummy! And loads of fish that I had never heard of, so a lot to discover.  Ciaran and I walked to Paddy's Market and afterwards I did some girly shopping in the city.  At night, we all met at The World in Kings Cross for a few beers and went to the Carwash Disco afterwards (very Blauwe Engel). Great fun, we danced all night and were very merry.

Paul bought tickets for the Cricket in January. It's a four day thing, but I will only join the Barmy Army on Saturday. Am looking forward to that, should be a lot of fun!  Don't understand the slightest about cricket but I know how to drink my beers and apparently that's what it's about.

We keep reading about Solomon Lew in the papers, the guy I was doing the call center work for. He's such a loser, unbelievable!  According to one of the inbound call center staff, he was now changing the dates on some of the proxy forms, which is fraude in our dictionary. We can't believe we were part of this for two weeks!   Poor backpackers taken advantage of ;-)
