Saint Seiya TV series anime consists of three chapters:
Sanctuary Chapter:
The beginning of the story, the Galaxian Wars, the Sagittarius gold cloth
hunt (the battles against Ikki and his Black Saints, Sanctuary fellows and
the Silver Saints), and ends with the battle between the 5 Bronze Saints
and 12 Gold Saints at Sanctuary.
Asgard Chapter:
The next battle for the Bronzes after winning the battle at the Sanctuary.
The story adapted the Norse mythology. In this chapter, the Bronzes and
Saori went to the North to fight Hilda and her God Warriors. This chapter
doesn't exist in the manga.
Poseidon Chapter:
The continued (anime) story of Asgard chapter, where the Bronzes fought
Poseidon and his Marina. In the manga, a short story about Hyoga after
the battle at Sanctuary precedes this chapter.
SANCTUARY
Having finished their trainings, the young boys
returned to Japan. They were fighting in a tournament called The Galaxian
Wars, which was to decide who would win the Sagittarius gold cloth. After
winning the fight against Geki, Seiya's next opponent was Shiryu.
In the middle of the battle, Seiya noticed Shiryu's weak spot and hit it
to defeat him. Shiryu was about to die, but Seiya helped him. The next
battle was Shun against Unicorn Jabu. Shun defeated Jabu easily, but then
a word "Axia" was spelt by his Nebula Chain, and his brother,
Ikki, appeared. Ikki was under evil charge to possess the gold cloth. He
defeated Shun, stole the Sagittarius cloth, and ran out with the Black
Saints. Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga and Shun ran after them. They defeated the
Black Saints and got some parts of the cloth back.
The 4 Bronzes then had some fights against Ikki. Ikki was healed, but was
accidentally killed. After the death of Ikki, the only part of the gold
cloth that the Bronzes had was only the helmet. They had to fight some
Sanctuary fellows (Ghost Saint Gaist, Gigas, Paethon, Docrates) to defend
it. While Shun was having a fight against Innate (Incendiary?) Saint, Ikki
returned to alive. The Bronzes then had some fights against some Silver
Saints who were sent by Ares after none of his fellows were successful in
fighting the Bronzes.
Finally, Seiya, Hyoga, Shun and Saori went to the Sanctuary, where they
had the battle against the 12 Gold Saints. Shiryu joined them right before
the battle commenced.
But Saori couldn't continue the journey because she was shot through the
heart by Silver Saint Sagitta Tramy. The Bronzes had 12 hours to save her.
They had to get the Athena's shield from the goddess's statue at the Altar
of Athena to heal Saori. But they had to fight against 12 Gold Saints in
12 temples before reaching the altar.
The first temple was Aries Temple which was guarded by Mu. They had no
fights against him, but it took 1 hour to be there while Mu repaired their
damaged clothes and explained about the seven senses before the Bronzes
faced the hard battles against the other Gold Saints.
At the Taurus Temple, Seiya had his fight against Aldebaran. When he was
about to die, Marin's and Saori's shadows came after him and burned his
spirit. He successfully broke Aldebaran's horn.
The Bronzes went on twos at the twin temple of Gemini. Saga had put his
shadows in the temples. Seiya and Shiryu had no problem to get out because
Shiryu was blind and his feeling detected nothing in the temple, but Hyoga
was tossed to Another Dimension after attacking the shadow. Shun's chain
was broken by Saga, but Ikki's and Saori's shadows burned his fighting
spirit. With his Thunder Web, Shun successfully broke the illusion of the
temple. He found the way out and went on to the next temple.
After Saga's illusion was broken by Shun, Hyoga returned to real world.
When he woke up, he found out that he was in Libra Temple. Aquarius Camus
was there and they were fighting. But Hyoga was defeated. Camus encased
him in his Freezing Coffin.
Seiya and Shiryu faced Cancer Death Mask. Shiryu told Seiya to go to Leo
Temple while he would fight against Death Mask. Shiryu was beaten up, and
Death Mask sent him to Underworld. There, Shiryu saw Hyoga's spirit and
the dying men's. Shiryu could return, defeated Death Mask, even sent his
opponent to Abyss (where the dying souls fell into, and they became as
deads). After the death of Death Mask, Shiryu's vision was healed. Shun
arrived, and they went on to Leo Temple.
Seiya could do nothing at the Leo Temple. He was attacked by Aioria, who
should have let him go. Aioria was hypnotized by Saga and being under his
evil charge, so he attempted to kill Seiya. Fortunately, Seiya was
protected by Casios, but Casios was killed. The angry Seiya attacked
Aioria with his Pegasus Ryuusei Ken, which healed the Leo Gold Saint.
Afterwards, Seiya, Shiryu and Shun entered the Virgo Temple and met Shaka.
Their attacks didn't make any hurts on him. On the contrary, Shaka hit
them back. He was about to kill Shun, but his hand was bleeded. Ikki had
arrived. In the battle, Shaka broke Ikki's senses, but finally Ikki could
defeat him, although it was by burning himself together with Shaka.
At the Libra Temple, Seiya, Shiryu and Shun found Hyoga in the ice coffin.
Suddenly, the Libra cloth appeared. Shiryu had to choose the correct
weapon to release Hyoga. He took the Libra sword, and successfully set
Hyoga's body free. Seiya and Shiryu went to the next temple while Shun
healed the frozen Hyoga with his cosmo.
Seiya and Shiryu was attacked by Scorpion Milo's Scarlet Needle. Hyoga
came, holding the unconscious Shun. Hyoga told Seiya and Shiryu to go
while he fought against Milo. After a hard battle, Milo healed Hyoga and
let him go.
Suddenly, the missing Sagittarius cloth appeared and moved to Sagittarius
Temple. The gold clothes resonated as the indication that all of the 12
gold clothes were in the same place.
At the Sagittarius Temple, the Bronzes found nothing but the Sagittarius
cloth. But they were trapped in Aioros's underground trails. Escaping from
the trails, they found Aioros's message which told the saints to protect
Athena.
Shiryu fought Capricorn Shura. Shura's Excalibur pierced Shiryu's chest.
Thinking that there was no other way to defeat Shura, Shiryu attacked him
with a forbidden attack called Rozan Kou Ryuu Ha. He held Shura from
behind and shot themselves to the sky. Shura realised his mistake after
Shiryu told him that the baby he had attempted to kill 13 years ago was
the reincarnation of Athena. He put his cloth on Shiryu and kicked him
back to earth while his body formed into a star (But this was found out
in the next chapter).
Hyoga had his second battle against Camus at the Aquarius Temple. They
used Aurora Execution to see whose attack was the most powerful. Hyoga's
attack reached the Absolute Zero which froze himself and Camus.
Seiya trapped in a poisoned rose garden while Shun was fighting against
the owner, Pisces Aphrodite. Seiya tried to run through the roses that
were grown until the Kyoukou's Room, but his energy was reduced and he
fell fainted because of the poisonous smell of the roses.
Shun was very angry knowing that his sensei's death was caused by
Aphrodite. He attacked Aphrodite with Nebula Chain, but his cloth and
chain was shattered by Aphrodite's Piranhian Rose. Then, Bloody Rose
pierced Shun's heart. But before he died, Shun's cosmo reached the seventh
sense, and he killed Aphrodite with Nebula Storm.
With the help of Marin, Seiya could be free from the roses. He went to the
Kyoukou's Room. There, Saga broke his senses. But before he killed Seiya,
Ikki came over (Shaka had asked Mu to release them from the outer
dimension). While Ikki was facing Saga, Seiya went to the Altar of Athena
and took the goddess's shield.
He got it just on time. Saori was saved by the complexion of the shield.
She went to the Kyoukou's Room with her followers and healed Shiryu, Hyoga
and Shun. The Bronzes attacked Saga with the attacks channeled in Seiya's
Pegasus Ryuusei Ken. Right before the battle ended, Saga's good side
shattered his evil side. Saga died by killing himself in front of Athena.
ASGARD
Asgard was a place where there was no warm sunshine
and green plants. The Asgardians served the Northern god Odin, with their
leader, Hilda of Polaris, whose task was to pray for the eternity of the
ice in Asgard in order to prevent the entire world drowned by melting ice.
One day a mysterious voice called out for Hilda to fight Athena.
As she refused, a big wave swept her, and when she woke up, a ring called
Nibelungen was in her finger. Hilda was completely under the charge of the
evil power of the ring. She left her duty and called 7 God Warriors to
fight Athena.
She sent Mizar Sid out. Sid went to the Sanctuary,
knocked Aldebaran out, then to Japan to kill Athena. Saori was hearing the
horrible news about Aldebaran when suddenly Sid showed up. Jabu, Ichi,
Nachi, Ban and Geki tried to protect Saori, but they were all knocked
down. Sid was about to kill Saori when his hand was held by a chain. Shun
came out, followed by Seiya. Both were wearing new clothes. Seiya tried to
fight Sid, but was beaten. Shun almost succeeded before Sid finally
knocked him. But before Shun was killed, Ikki came, followed by Shiryu and
Hyoga. Seeing that Athena was surrounded by her saints, Sid moved back and
returned to Asgard.
Saori was curious about Asgard. She sent Hyoga to see what happened there.
He met Freya, Hilda's younger sister who asked him to take her to Athena.
When they met, Freya told Saori about her sister's strange attitude and
asked for her help. When they were talking, Hilda and the God Warriors
came. Saori was shocked seeing the Nibelungen Ring on Hilda's finger. She
told the Bronzes that Hilda and earth were in danger, and they had to
destroy the ring. As Hilda had left her duty, the ice began to melt, so
Saori decided to take over Hilda's duty. Seiya, Hyoga and Shun ran out
for Hilda before the sun set.
On the way to Asgard, the 3 Bronzes were caught by the
giant Phekda Thor. Thor knocked Hyoga and Shun with his twin hammer so
Seiya had to fight alone. As he was beaten, Shiryu arrived and told him
that they had to collect 7 Odin Sapphires from the God Warriors and used
them with the Balmung Sword to destroy the Nibelungen Ring. Seiya woke
again, fought, defeated Thor, and got his Odin Sapphire. The Bronzes then
decided to go on different directions to save the time.
Shiryu fought Alioth Fenrir and his wolves. He defeated Fenrir though his
eyes were hurt, but then was attacked by the wolves and fell into an ice
valley. Hyoga had his fight against Merak Hagen. They pitted their attacks
at a place full of craters. Hagen was defeated. Shun's chain didn't react
on Benetnasch Mime. Though Mime was almost ended up by Nebula Storm, Shun
was almost killed by Mime's Stringer Requiem before Ikki came and replaced
his brother in the battle. Ikki successfully dug up Mime's miserable past,
and they both fell down after pitting their attacks. Marin who came as spy
was caught by Megrez Alberich. She was defeated and encased in Amethyst
Shield. Seiya came later and encased too. Hyoga couldn't do better, and
Shiryu was the one who completely defeated Alberich. Shun arrived at
Valhalla Palace and had his second fight with Sid, as Seiya and Hyouga
were swept out. Shun's Nebula Storm defeated Sid's Blue Impulse and killed
him. Shaina arrived but they were caught by Alkor Bud, Sid's twin brother.
Shun and Shaina were knocked down, and Bud fought Ikki who came to save
his brother. Ikki once again dug up the miserable memories of Bud's and
his brother's past. Finally, Bud decided to die together with his brother
in the snow.
Seiya arrived at Valhalla plaza. Dubhe Siegfried appeared. Seiya could do
nothing and was beaten. So did Ikki, Shun, and Hyoga, who arrived then.
Shiryu came behind. In the fight, he noticed Siegfried's weak spot as his.
But Shiryu couldn't do much as his energy reduced, when Seiya rose and
fought again. In the middle of the battle, Siegfried was stunned seeing
that Seiya was helped by the cosmo of Athena and the his friends.
Hilda showed up. She was about to shot Seiya with her
spear but Siegfried held her shot. Hilda's shock hadn't gone when a young
man came, introduced himself as Siren Sorrento one of Poseidon's Marina.
He told Hilda that the mysterious voice was Poseidon's. Then he played his
flute which broke Seiya's and Siegfried's minds. Siegfried suddenly hit
himself, gave his Sapphire to Seiya then sacrificed himself: He held
Sorrento, shot themselves into the atmosphere, and formed into a star.
Seiya wasted no more time. He hurried to Odin's altar. Hilda tried to hurt
him, but Seiya's friends blocked her way. Seiya kept on going though he
had to hear his friends screamed in pain, and Hilda's spear hit Ikki as he
tried to protect Seiya. Seiya stood on the altar, screamed out for the god,
but there was no answers. Hilda blew Seiya into a valley between the altar
and the god's statue. The 7 Sapphires were thrown away from his hand and
fastened on the statue. The god's sword fell down, the Odin Robe appeared,
followed by the Balmung Sword. The robe replaced the Pegasus cloth on
Seiya's body.
When Seiya was about to hack the sword at Hilda, he
remembered that he had to destroy the ring, but not to kill her. As Seiya
was hesitated, Hilda hit him. But Seiya stood again by Odin's call, hacked
the sword for the second time, crashed Hilda's crown, the ring, and pushed
her unconscious.
As Hilda fell, the Asgard began to break down, and Saori could no longer
hold on and fell unconscious too. Seiya afraidly thought that he had
killed Hilda when suddenly she woke up, walked to the altar, and took the
Balmung Sword. The Bronzes kept their eyes on her as she prayed, trying to
help Athena. She was badly hurt in feeling as she remembered that her God
Warriors were all dead for her. As Hilda was praying, the Asgard started
to rise up and the ice started to freeze again. The Bronzes went to
Saori's place. They screamed out for her and she stood up again. Hilda
came and had an emotional moment with Freya. It seemed to be a happy
ending when suddenly a big whirlpool appeared behind Saori and swept them
all. When Hilda and the Bronzes were conscious, they saw that Saori wasn't
there again.
POSEIDON
Earth was in danger. It was raining all day and tsunami
swept every city. When Saori revived, she found that she was in a room. A
young man came, and she noticed him as Julian Solo, who had proposed her
to marry on his 16th birthday party. Julian was chosen by Poseidon to
reincarnate after his soul was trapped by Athena. He imprisoned Saori in
Main Breadwinner which poured water from its four sides.
The Bronzes tried to find her. Seiya and Shun went to Asgard and met Hilda
and Freya, who then found a spot on the sea where Poseidon's palace was
located under it. Suddenly, Seiya and Shun were pulled down into the sea,
and found themselves at an underwater land. They met Mermaid Tethys and
Marina leader Sea Dragon. They were told to fight 7 Marina of 7 oceans if
they wanted to save Saori.
Hyoga came afterward. Shiryu and Kiki were caught by Tethys, and Kiki told
Shiryu to go forward as he faced her. Kiki couldn't do much but Shaina
came and helped him. She brought the Libra cloth along and told Kiki to
give it to Seiya and the other Bronzes. Seiya fought Sea Horse Baian. In
the middle of the battle, Seiya's cloth suddenly turned to gold. He
defeated Baian and tried to break the tower down. But however hard his
attack was, the tower couldn't be broken. Before he tried his next attack,
Kiki came with the Libra cloth. Seiya took one of the weapons, and
successfully broke the tower down. Shiryu and Hyoga arrived, and they
hurried in different ways to reach the Main Breadwinner as early as they
could.
Shun defeated Scylla Io and Shiryu won the hard battle against Chrysaor
Krishna. At the 4th tower, Shun found the unconscious Seiya and Hyoga.
Ikki came behind, but suddenly he formed into Lymnades Casa, who had
tricked Hyoga and Seiya by forming into Camus and Marin, who revealed her
identity as Seika, Seiya's lost sister.
Shun almost defeated him before he held his chain back, thinking that it
was his real brother. Casa hit him back, the real Ikki came and used the
same trick. He formed into Casa, and defeated him. Hyoga then had a battle
against his old friend, Kraken Isaac. Ikki had a long fight with Sea
Dragon Kanon, Saga's twin brother, who had pulled off Athena's seal so
Poseidon's soul revived. Shun fought Siren Sorrento, who had been escaped
from death at Asgard when he beat Siegfried right before they formed into
stars.
Meanwhile, Shaina ended Tetis. She arrived at Poseidon's palace and
defeated. Seiya came behind, and couldn't do much better, even though
Shiryu and Hyoga helped him. At the Sanctuary, Mu, Aldebaran, Aioria,
Shaka and Milo saw that Aioros sent his Sagittarius cloth to the place
where the Bronzes were fighting, A long after, Aquarius cloth went too.
Return to Poseidon's palace, the Sagittarius cloth appeared and replaced
the Pegasus cloth on Seiya's body. But he still couldn't defeat Poseidon.
His shots hit him and his friends back. But finally, with the channeled
cosmo of Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga and Shun, Seiya's shot made Poseidon out
of his mind for a while, and the Bronzes hurried to the Main Breadwinner.
As they were trying to bring the tower down, Poseidon arrived and attacked
them, but suddenly Aquarius cloth protected them, and replaced Hyoga's
Cygnus cloth. Then the Dragon cloth on Shiryu's body was replaced by the
Libra cloth. The 3 Bronzes in Gold tried hard to break the tower, as Ikki
and Shun struggled to hold Poseidon's attacks. Finally, Shiryu's and
Hyoga's cosmo channeled in Seiya's fist, took him disappeared into the
tower, brought it down, and Seiya walked out with the unconscious Saori.
As she revived, Saori fought Poseidon to re-trap his soul. And after a
hard fight, she won. Poseidon's soul was pulled out of Julian's body and
trapped in the jug. Saori put back the Athena's seal on it. Then, a big
flood swept them, but Athena's cosmo protected the Bronzes. The rain
stopped, and the flood on earth began to lessen. The victory was also felt
by Hilda and Freya in the North, and the 5 Golds and Marin at Sanctuary.
As the sun rose, the image of Athena appeared before Saori and the Bronzes.
