I've always wondered, after finding out that Misao was the weasel girl... what IS a weasel and what does it look like.... so finally I saw the first weasel of my life... it's so kawaii! It's adorable and cuddly... I want a pet weasel! If you hate animals and if your back lawn is full of weasels, I suggest you don't see this page.... it's for silly curious folk like me!

THE NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN-ANY-WHERE JULES VERNE'S THEORY OF WHY IS A WEASEL IS POPULAR IN JAPAN BECAUSE OF A PARTICULAR NINJA....

What the heck is it?
Weasel is a common name for several small, fur bearing, carnivorous mammals that are most abundant in North America, Europe but also South America, Northern Africa and Asia. (And as we know, one variety also lives in Japan...)

Why a weasel reminds me of Misao...
The various species of weasel are similar in appearance and habits. (the Oni gang?!!) They are lithe, slender animals with elongated necks, muscular, snake like bodies, and short legs. (unless, in Misao's case lankeeeee long legs....)
They vary from 13-40 cm in length and the male is almost twice as big as the female. (Ever notice how tall Aoshi is from Misao?!)  Their heads are small, narrowed snouts. (or triangular and big) Nearly all weasels are brown above and white beneath. (See how original Misao is? She's done away with brown and white and has adapted to purple and pink.) and those found in Northern regions turn white in winter. (Same thing'll happen if Misao stays out in winter too long... of course, the additional blue icicles don't count...) In warmer regions weasels retain they're brown coat throughout the year. (if there's some good tanning lotion around of course...)
The weasel, which preys on mice, rats, birds, and rabbits (well, if Misao's lucky, she does get all that on her journey to find Aoshi... after all, it IS better than grubs, right?) is largely nocturnal extremely agile,( ^_^ ) it attacks animals larger than itself. (Those thugs she kills are rather huge, huh?!) Although some times a serious threat to poultry it also feeds on rodents around farms. (We can expect Misao to do that can't we?.... can't you just imagine her sneaking off from a farm holding a couple of dead chickens under her arm at night, doing her usual sneaky laugh?)
When young, the weasel can be tamed. (That's what poor Okina tried to do! ^_^) The female makes a nest of straw, leaves and moss in a ground crevice or a hollow tree. (ummm....is a dojo made like that?...) A litter has two to twelve babies! (O_O) Among the best known species include the stoat and the long tailed weasel. Close relatives are ferrets, pole cats and the mink. (the thing that Betty and Wilma from the Flintstones always wanted.... a mink coat!)
And besides, a weasel is cute, with big eyes, lots of hair and is just dandy!  So I guess Saitou is a pretty right when he calls Misao a weasel 'cause she seems more weasley to me than anything else!

Had enough of the craziness? Don't worry... it's not contagious... at least I think it isn't...
