:: Job: Okashira (leader) of the Oni gang, plus she's a spy/ninja thingy. (What a life!)

:: First appearance: In a forest, when she was trying to sell  herself off to some men.... of course she had no intention to do so, but she needed the dough, and so ended up thrashing the guys. Meanwhile Kenshin comes along and she tries to rob him too and the rest is history!

:: Love interests: Aoshi Shinamori, the retired pig! I tell you, he's not worth  Misao! That jerk is a two timing snake in the grass who likes tea and giving his female friends foot massages!! OK, OK I don't hate him... but when will he stop using the temple as a motel and go back to Misao??!?!?!?!?!!?!

Now Misao is generally a very good character. (as if I would say otherwise!) She was the daughter of a powerful and important Oni gang leader, but when he died, Aoshi decided to raise her. She was 8 while he was 18 (O_o) and because of his great fighting skills, he had already become the leader at 15, of course Okina was the one chosen for the post, but he turned it down and suggested Aoshi, as he thought having a young leader was a wiser choice. So then, little Misao was brought up by Aoshi, Beshimi, Shikijo, Hoko and Hannya, who were all great Oni fighters. But y'know.... all of those guys helped, but Hannya and Aoshi were the ones closest to her, amongst all of them.

But then Aoshi and the others left little Misao in Okina's care, so you can say that Okina was the one who really brought her up while Aoshi had left. See, Okina was also part of the Oni gang, but after the Tokugawa era ended, there was no use for the Onis, so most of his fellow comrades were unemployed. What Okina did next was that he started his own cute little tavern called Ayoiya! (^_^) So, you see, the gals and the guys who now act as cooks and waitresses are really highly trained spies and ninjas! (O_O) 

But when Misao grew up, she remembered her good ol' pals she had had as a kid and determined to find them, she started off on a quest all over Japan. It is on this search that she meets Himura Kenshin and befriends him in his task to rid Japan of Shishio. And so, the Kyoto Arc continues...
