The Steering Linkage
I opted to go with the original look and keep steering column and wheel. I cut the old steering box off with a sawzall. I removed the inner shift tube out the bottom and did a second cut on both the column and steering shaft where I wanted them. I used the Heidts steering linkage kit. It came with two U joints and the shaft. One of the U joints is splinned at the bottom to go right on the steering rack shaft. Unlike many kits where an adapter must be purchased also. The Heidts kit used less parts and was cheaper too at $139. Only disadvantage is if the steering shaft needs removed, a roll pin has to be punched out. I measured the ID of the steering column and OD of the shaft and determined I needed a 1 7/8' X 3/4"  bearing. Went to the local bearing store and picked one up for $10.00.
