All About Me

Okay, as you can tell from the title at the top of this page, this is all about me. Look a little farther down to see more specific links about ME.

My name is Reesa. I am participating in a Web design class and am learning how to write HTML at New Market Vocational Skills Center in Tumwater, WA. This website is my assignment for this three-week session. Please excuse the simplicity and boring-ness of my web site as this is my first (real) attempt at HTML.

...And then there was Reesa

I was born on April 29th. I was one of those "oops" babies. But, in my case I was an "oops-but-let's-keep-it" baby. I was also a surprise: a girl. It's not that my parents weren't expecting a boy, it's just they wanted it to be a surprise.

News flash: Baby #2 Born!

Spencer came into the world 17 days before my 2nd birthday. I can't tell you how I felt about that because I don't remember. I was probably a little jealous.

The Big Move

The summer after I turned 4 (????) my family moved from Ontario, Cali to rainy Washington. My dad had gone up earlier to find a job and house. Once he did, we drove (no, I'm not kidding) there. In the Explorer: mom, driving; me, whining; Spencer, being a toddler. Two cats, with the litterbox in the back. In the (old) truck: Grandma, designated driver, aunt Valerie, coming with us, and 2 dogs in the covered bed of the truck. It took us three days. (We still have the Explorer)

Surrounded by Family and Green

One reason we moved was to be closer to my mom's extended family. (Most of her family, anyway) My mom's older brother and sister and their children, My grandma's first husband, his second wife, and their kids were enough family for my mom. But that's not the only reason my mom wanted to move. When she was younger in her pre-kid life, she drove from California to Alaska through Washington. She told me that she loved how green WA was. And so she convinced my dad to move.

I'm Off To School

I began school while still living in the rental house my dad found. I began kindergarten at the nearest elementary school. I loved it, and my teacher. Spencer started kindergarten and after he finished K and I finished second grade, we moved to a new house. We still live there. Then we moved to a new school, too. I stayed in that public school district until the middle of 7th grade.

"A Voyage of Self-Discovery"

(I'm stealing the title of a book so I've provided the author with a link to his site.) My "voyage of self-discovery" has been homeschooling. My parents pulled Spencer out first, when he was in fifth grade. They weren't happy with Spencer's public education. They weren't happy with mine either and decided to pull me out after the WASL (a big test in Washington State, also a big controversy. Test given in April for grades 4, 7, and 10). Things in the school administration got worse and my parents pulled me out four months earlier than they said they would, at Christmas break. I was okay with it though, and have been ever since.

The Future

Alright, yes, that's a corny title, but it happens to be the end of the page, and I have to wrap it up. What's better, since I've told you about my past and present, than the future? To tell you the truth, I have no idea what I want to be when I "grow up". I have a few I ideas, but I like them all. I don't think is possible to major in five different fields, do you? Oh well, I'll decide later.
