In 1997, Shoko moved to San Francisco and performs regulary in solo and in collaboration with other artists throughout the world. 1997 *As a guest koto player, performed for Shizen Dance Company @Theater Artaud in SF. 1996 *Organized Asian Strings (Japanese koto, Okinawan koto, Taiwanese Zheng, Korean Kayagum, Vietnamese Dan-trahn) and combined to create a new sound with Butoh dancer Lori Ohtani and performed "Midaregami" @ the Honolulu Academy of Arts Theater. *As a guest sangen player, performed in "Kabuki Opera Mikado"(conductor, Neil Mckey) @Kennedy Theater in HI. 1995 *Participated in "Tadao & Kazue Sawai koto concert U.S. tour" @Augustana College, Japan America Theater, UCSD, Wesleyan University, etc. 1994 *Organized and performed in "Sawai sokyoku-in 15th Anniversary Hawaii concert" @University of Hawaii. *performed a stage drama "Tsuioku" with Bailey Matsuda(composer,keyboards) and other musicians. 1993 *As a 17-string bass koto player, performed in Kenny Endo Taiko Hawaii Tour. In 1992, Shoko moved to Honolulu Hawaii to teach koto at the Sawai Koto kai Hawaii. 1992 *As a member of Kazue sawai koto ensemble, performed in the "Bang On a Can Festival" in NY. *Held a solo recital @ the Honolulu Academy of Arts Theater as part of the New Music Across America series. *Performed in "Marina Piccinini(Flute) concert" in HI. 1991 *As a menber of Blue poles of Lear(conductor, Tetsu Saitoh-bass, koto leader, Hideaki Kuribayashi), performed for theater group Tao's open-air play "King Lear". *Held a first solo recital in Akita, Japan. 1990 *Participated in Sawai Sokyoku-in 10th Anniversary Concerts in Tokyo & Osaka Japan and Australia. |
