Koto duo STEP FORWARD

We first met in 1988, when we were accepted as special research students at Sawai koto Academy in Tokyo. Since then we have performed together often, including at the open air play Shakespeare's "King Lea" and at improvisational performances with Tetsu Saito and Hideaki Kuribayashi. After we came to the States we traveled between Hawaii and San Diego performing in various concerts. We have spent a lot of precious time together working on koto music. One result has been the desire to create a Duo CD. Now we have made the first step with this varied selection of pieces, Hyakkafu - a piece composed by our great master, Tadao Sawai, Koto Futae - our challenging contemporary piece, and some original pieces and improvisations. We would like to continue making further steps, without fear of making mistakes, hoping to expand our possibilitties.
