Personal Biography as an Artist/Designer

I have been doodling on the nearest scrap of paper or willing hand for as long as I can remember. When I was in seventh grade I began taking art lessons from a private instructor who has taught and refined my skills in sketching, watercolor, and acrylics. I have entered these projects along with cartoons and various other art projects in the county 4-H fair where I have won several blue ribbons, three Best of Class awards, a Best of Show award, and two state fair entries. For the past two years, I have been working at Central Illinois Arborist, where I have had countless opportunities to build up my Graphic Design portfolio. I have designed logos, letterheads, business cards, appointment cards, postcards, posters, flyers, and websites for them. My boss gives me the information and I am free to design them with whatever I can find to use on our computer. I am also currently the webservant for the church that I attend.

Future Artistic Education and Career Goals

After I finish high school, I plan to attend college full-time with the focus of majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Illustration. I chose this major due to my interest in art and the ability I will have to use it in a variety of situations. With a Graphic Design major I will be able to work for a large company, have my own home-based company, work abroad, or simply use it in my community such as at my church. I will be minoring in Illustration to continue improving my abilities in that area. My major and minor include both the pre-requisite classes to the web design class, so I plan to take it as well to improve my web designing skills so that I can combine them with my Graphic Design abilities.
