Video Game Marketing 101

Some call this marketing strategy 'obscene' or 'offensive'. Men call it 'eye-pleasing' <grin>. Video game companies (as well as video game magazines) are now, more than ever, using females clad in tight (or barely any) clothing to market their product. Often times, these women are fake - products of digital artists or 3D modelers, but in a few cases, they are real women who actually pose for games. Draw your own conclusions on who the video game market has always been targeted at, but I'd say young men (maybe the older ones too ;p) Hehe - so here for you men who want to form an "opinion" of your own, are some links to pictures of video game marketing "techniques" currently used. LOL

Note: These are NOT nude pictures, though some are somewhat suggestive - and most have graced the pages - (some even the cover page!) - of game magazines.

And here they are (learn from them if you want to market a game! hehehe):

Elexis SINclaire

The hottest, fully rendered woman you could ever hope to lay your eyes on. LOL. This is the main reason they have for you to buy the game SiN. It's a bit of a download, but well worth it. ;p

Elexis SINclaire

Another shot of Elexis, somewhat smaller.

Elexis in water

Don't look too hard through that transparent water. This one was used on the cover of a game magazine.

Forsaken body

This is an actual person, from what I've been told (and what I've seen). Download one of the wallpapers for a hot teaser. By the way, Forsaken as a game is beautiful (especially on a 3dFX chipset). Aside from the gameplay, the game itself comes with a calendar that's sure to please the eyes <grin>.

Tomb Raider site

Lara Croft. Tomb Raider. If you haven't heard of either of these names by now, you've been in the dark, man! Let me say, though, that Tomb Raider 1 was an awesome game. A "virtual" fashion shoot with Lara Croft was done for a magazine called "The Face" - and things probably took off from there.

Lara Croft pics

There are dozens of Lara Croft websites out there now (even a Tomb Raider web ring!). This one probably has most of the pictures that were created of her (the non-nude, non-pornographic ones, that is). Sadly, there are websites out there with her unclothed and doing.. "stuff". Don't ask me for those sites - you can find them yourselves! I'm not going down that road ;p

Gallery of Fictional Babes

A site devoted to fictional women. How about that? It includes characters from video games, as well as those from comic books, such as Witchblade, etc. (hmm, comic books seem to use the same marketing technique, eh? ;p)
