Photo #1 http://www.masters-of-photography.com/L/lange/lange_hoe_cutter.html When the Okies reached California, they had to get jobs to earn money. Some of the jobs were to pick crops, gather crops, etc. These jobs were hard and tough and they still got low wages. When the Okies quit their jobs, more of the Okies would want to be hired into the job again. The first time the Okies had been to California, they were having a very hard time. Since the jobs gave them very low wages, they had to keep working. It especially gets rough if there's too many people in that family. They won't be able to support everyone. Job

Photo #2 http://www.masters-of-photography.com/L/lange/lange_edge_of_pea_field.html Most Okies would have to suffer without jobs. They have to live in the plains where there is no jobs or any place where they can earn money. They would eventually have no more food to live on. Then they are so desperate for a job that they would do almost anything for a job. Sometimes the Okies would die if there is no more food or water left for them to survive with. This created a bad situation for the Okies. Lost

Photo #3 http://www.masters-of-photography.com/L/lange/lange_migrant_mother.html This is a famous picture taken by Dorethea Lange. This showed that the Okies had no life in California. The children wouldn't have anything to do and would become useless with no jobs. This is a picture of the "Migrant Mother". This pictured showed that in California, it's no different from Oklahoma anyways. It's almost the same except there's no dust in California. There are hardly any jobs and if there are jobs, they would cost at a low wage of like 5 cents. Depressed

Photo #4 http://www.weedpatchcamp.com/life.htm The government had built camps for the migrants to go into. They had jobs and shelter there. They also got food, liquid, and all those kinds of stuff. The person who thought of this was Franklin D. Roosevelt. He decided to build camps for migrants to live in because the other places were too rough and had low wages to pay on for work. This was a good idea because the Okies got to relax and don't have to drive to any place else because this was like the perfect place. Home

Photo #5 http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/128_migm.html Most of the Okies in California had to live in tents in the middle of nowhere because there were no places they could go to. When they got tired, they had to make tents where they have no idea where it is. Sometimes they would get lost because of this. Their families would get torn apart because there would be nothing they could do when they get low wages and get lost. Depressed
