| Hey - I just wanted to say that Dave will be missed by many. I first saw him when he was playing with the Pilfers and he was a super nice guy. It was a pleasure getting to know him through the music he played. Thanks, Dave. Brian A. This is Stand Up Jack zine, We recently heard the tragic news about Avoid One Thing drummer Dave Karcich, and are deeply saddened by the announcement of his untimely death. I had only heard of Avoid One Thing within this past week, when I curiously opened their promotional CD, and by this week, I had already become attached to their sound. I had established the utmost respect for all the musicians in the band, and the news of Daves passing brought forth a feeling of pain that, while causing great grief amonst the staff of Stand Up Jack, I am sure pales in comparison to the pain and sorrow experienced by his closest friends and relatives at this time. We realize that we do not have much to offer other than kind words and emotional support in these times, but we would be willing to assist you in any event carried out in Daves honor. I conclude this letter expressing my deepest condolences for your loss, and by offering assurance that we, along with our close friends, will stand behind you in these difficult times. God bless. Members of Springhill Jack came to my son Todds funeral last November. They offerred me comfort and had many nice things to say about Todd and his musical talents. One thing is for sure, my son had a real ability to find true friends. People told me they did not know what to say to me when Todd died, but the truth is, it doesnt much matter what they say. It is the fact that they come and show their love and support. I wish I could take some of the sting and pain away, especially for Dave parents. Sadly, there are no magic words. Love and support for one another is about all we have. I can be reached at [email protected]. In closing, please know that I share your grief. Dave and his music which brought joy to many thousands will be missed. Yours very sincerely, Gary D. & Eileen Eckhardt Dave, youll be missed. CT Ska fans will never forget you.
