Chronicling of my Xbox 360 RRoD Repair
avatar Since it seems like the hip thing to do, I've decided to record the repair process of my Xbox 360, which if you've been paying attention you would know was hit with the Red Ring of Death the other day. I've seen a number of recordings on this subject and I'm curious how mine will stack up against the rest of the world. Some people get it back within 2 weeks, others take like 3 months. Anyway, just thought I'd add to the internet's collection of data on this subject. I'll be updating this list whenever a new event takes place.

  • Friday, June 27: I begin experiencing problems with the console freezing right in the middle of play. I recognize this as the first sign of the Red Rings and start preparing for the worst.

  • Saturday, June 28: The Red Ring finally appears. I call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and arrange for it to be repaired. I chose to have Microsoft email me a shipping label and send the Xbox in myself, rather than waiting the 3-5 days for the return box that they likely wouldn't have shipped until Monday, June 30.

  • Monday, June 30: I ship out the Xbox from a local postal annex. The waiting begins...

  • Thursday, July 3: UPS Tracker shows that the package has arrived in Meaquite, Texas, the city that the repair center is located in.

  • Sunday, July 6: The status of my console on the Xbox website has FINALLY changed to say "console received". I don't know what the hell took it so long to change.

  • Monday, July 7: Status has changed to "Device Shipped to Customer" meaning they have already repaired or replaced it and are shipping it back, or for some stupid reason think that I've violated my warranty in some way and are sending it back to give me the pleasure of going ape shit on their asses.
  • Monday, July 14: I've received my refurbished and working Xbox 360. All is good.......... FOR NOW!!! *Psycho Music*
