January 25, 2000: I started building the Cove. This will be Marck and Cleo's Castle. I'm designing it as I go along, so I don't know what'll be in there yet.

These pics show the first wall I built. The "tower" was designed after playing around with the 6091's alternate models. (In the background you can see remains of Leo's Castle (6091) that I didn't take apart yet.) There's more to the tower though, coming soon... I hope to put the Royal bedroom next to it, so that Cleo can see everything that's happening.

The middle wall sections are actually lower than the outer ones. I wanted one full wall, but that's hard with the baseplate I'm using. Also, I didn't want the wall to be monotonous. So I put the middle sections more inward and put an arch to support them.

January 29, 2000: After spending the last couple of days building, I realized that I don't have near as much castle walls as I'd like, and that the castle will be much smaller than I planned. So I changed the structure above to make it use two regular walls and one "secret" wall, and applied it to the other side of the castle too. I also added a bridge and an outer structure for the throne room.

The peasants are hard at work while Queen Cleo observes from her canopy. (Only one peasant is seen here - mainly because I only have one ;-)

After many long days, the bridge that passes above the gorge is finally finished. The bridge is held by arches with pillars to support the middle. The peasants can now begin working on the other side of the castle, overlooking the sea.

The main wall structure is in place. Here the revolving "secret" wall is visible, what isn't visible is the structure on the outside that holds the wall in place. I will add interior later - I don't know what this area will be, but on top of it are the throne room and the Royal bedroom.

This is the enterance to the throne room, on the second floor. Leading to it are stairs from the bridge (a half-arch stairway, seen in the bottom center here). This room will be divided (later) to a waiting room and the throne room itself. The whole second floor stands on two 6x24 grey plates that are not completely attached to the floor below and can be removed easily (but not too easily :-).

This will be the throne room.
It might not be the best idea to put the grey/glass wall in the middle of the blue room, but I thought it fit in the throne room. Also, it will lead to a balcony overlooking the sea that will have a stairway to the royal bedroom above.

The King's Throne is not my favorite, but for lack of decent slopes, I had to build it like this. Hopefully I'll find a good trade for regular and inverted blue slopes and then I can do some nicer stuff.

...And from a normal point of view.

King Marck from a peasant's eyes...

Top - the original wall, built with four 1x5x6 castle walls.
Left - The new castle wall using two of the regular walls and one "secret door" wall. Two thinwalls (1x2x5) are used to hold the secret door in place. The other side uses the same method, thus reducing my regular wall usage...

Here you can also see the stairs to the throne room - they use two half-arches. I might change them later, but for now they're fine.

I decided the keep will be on the closer side.
