Worm reproduction
7th June 1999

You'd learn something new everyday:
It is illegal to use Singapore currency notes for origami.

Sudden inspirations or cravings:
To invent an automatic cross-stitch machine...hey, I'm trying real hard ok..

I read in yesterday's papers that the scientists have found that the healthier the sexual reproduction system, the shorter the lifespan. For some worms at least.

I don't really have the details, but they used a kind of roundworm. Using laser beams, they destroyed the cells that produce eggs and sperms in the roundworms and found that these roundworms lived 60% longer than the normal roundworms.

Their theory was that these sexual cells are also resposible for giving out a certain gene promoter which triggers off aging in the roundworms. When these sexual organs are damaged, the worms thus do not age as quickly as the normal worms, so as to give them more time to reproduce. Which makes perfect sense to me.

I was just wondering, if the same was true for humans, guess what..."Sir, I have both good news and bad news for you. The bad news is you're impotent. The good news is you'll probably die later."

Cool idea huh...

I'd rather have children
