More about the theatre

Mood: calm
Fact of the day: Clint Eastwood was once a one-term mayor of Carmel, California.
event of the week Annual General Meeting of SSA. which I'm going to miss. damn.

I've been busy with my opera rehearsals these days. It's not that bad now, since I've manage to form some sort of a friendship with this girl I'm working with called Tameche. I can't really call it an equal friendship, in the sense most of the time, she's the one talking, and I think she feels an obligation to bring around the theatre, talking to me like I am a fresh-eyed tourist or something. I didn't tell her that I've worked in a theatre for a while before, nor did I tell her that I'm not to that new to the scene. I don't think she's being condescending. In fact, I'm touched she's gone so far to try and make me feel more comfortable.

But anyway, it's become a little more comfortable working there. It probably helps that the job is really simple, just pulling the ropes to raise or lower the flyers at certain cue times. So then I wouldn't have much of a chance to blunder and further verify my inexperience-kid status. But we still don't really talk much, partly because we're working on a rather high platform, our voices become magnified and may disrupt the rehearsals. I'm kinda glad, because I like having the peace and quiet to just think and take a break from people in general.

What I've been thinking about was my future participation in the theatre. I was just wondering if I'll actually continue this little hobby after I go back to Singapore. These thoughts have sort of been sparked off by Tameche who asked if I'm going to work as an engineer or work in the theatre after I graduate. There's of course no question about where I'm going to work, but I am indeed contemplating maybe doing part time work for theatre groups I like on a project-by-project basis, just like the way I'm working on the opera now. Hmm...just a thought.
