| September 2004 Li, Brett, Nick and Brian in Malolo on Sept 18, 2004 above. Where is that PFD Brett? We have been fairly active lately. Sailing the Magellan down to Redondo and back a week later. We have had several daysails. Got one of our old Lido 14's up and running, only to have the mast drop & break the goosneck. April 2004 We are putting most of our boats up for sale. We need to clean house & concentrate on just a couple of boats. Please contact us to get a tour of any of our boats. Brett. Li and I went sailing on a Cal 25 as crew in a Redondo Race. We have also been taking out Malolo, a Cal 20 that is kept in the water at the yacht club. The new Scouts have been enjoying the kayaking in King harbor. March 2004 We have a new infusion of Sea-Scouts. We have been meeting at KHYC on Sundays after 11 am. We have a new volunteer sailing instructor. We cleaned the bottom of Malolo (Cal-20), I have sailed her twice with Brett & Lee,. She is much faster now. We plan to get Malolo fixed up so it is also race ready. The standing rigging on Surf City needs some adjusting, Next easy project. The Grand Banks '32 got 2 new batteries, a alternator & needs to be used. Anyone up for a fishing trip? January '04 Rocket (Santa Cruz '27) could sure use a new home. She is for sale. Ready to race. Check out the Tall Ship "Lady Washington" December 20 Participated in the KHYC Christmas Boat Parade. It was just Brett, Lee, David and myself (Ron) that ran the boat around the harbor. We had some decorating help from Michael and Allan P. the night before. November 2003 - We took troop 996 on a overnighter to Catalina. We used the Magellan '35 and the Cal 30. Nice Trip with 12 participants. September 13, 2003 Sailed Cal 20's Surf City & Malolo with Lee, Brett & I. Lee & Brett solo'd. Also had a YC member sail with us. We loaned Surf City to Rod Z of the yacht club for a single handed race on Sunday. Aug 3 - 5 2003 We sailed the Magellan to Catalina. Two adults & 6 Sea Scouts. Stayed at Little Fisherman on a mooring and 4 of the Scouts camped at the KHYC facility. We had excellent weather. Swam, fished, hiked, etc. Dustin L & Rong G. Scouts Brett, Lee, Nick, Artem, David, & Won July 20th --- The Tall Ship Exi Johnson will be visiting the KHYC. We will be able to sail on her back to Long Beach that afternoon. June 2003 The Grand Banks is running fine & ready to go thanks to Bill Kirby. Cleared the water out of the fuel lines in the Magellan. (Had a little problem with the engine quitting when we were in Rainbow Harbor, but managed to sail back to our dock just fine). Had a Lido 14 donated to the Ship for parts, so that we can get a second Lido working. Brett and Ron sailed three times with Bob Cole on "Priorities", Bobs 30' Olson. Very cool. Pretty rough weather in May but no problem thanks to donated foul weather gear. . Also helped run the committee boat for one of the twilight races. Thanks Bob... May 2003 News Next regular meeting is May 13th, at 7 pm at the King Harbor Yacht Club, game room. We will be working on & sailing the Magellan April 18th. The Cal20 "Surf City" on the 19th. Bob Cole is offering crew race training on his Olson 30 on Tuesday afternoons. April 29th: Brett & I crewed on Bob Cole's Olson 30 in the Redondo Beach Yacht Clubs twilight race.. We had 15-18 knot winds, we had a great time (thanks for the donated foul weather gear!). Thanks Bob, we wll look forward to more.... ron... |
