The year now is 2015. The world is at a new age and is in a battle for its own survival against God himself. God feels that mankind has lost its faith in him, can prosper without him, and even feels that they're at times better than him, but all this must be changed. God sends out his Angels to destroy all of mankind while a secret organization called NERV exists underground to fight for the future of humanity. They have created robots with the souls of good and four CHILDREN were selected to pilot these robots. Shinji being one of them, they are Rei Ayanami, Asuka Sohryu, and Touji Suzuhara. Mankinds fate will either prosper in their hands or perish at the hands of God.
This is not only one of my favorites, but it is was the most popular anime in Japan since 1995. Beautiful animation and the characters distribute such feeling for the story line that I've ever seen.
