AJ McLEAN IS SELLING HIS HOUSE
Backstreet Boys member A.J. McLean, who recently confirmed his engagement to girlfriend Sarah Martin, has more news:

He is selling his Phillips Landing home in southwest Orange County.

Asking price: $1.95 million.

What you get: 6,200 square feet, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, sound studio, dock, great views. McLean plans to buy a smaller home in this area and a bigger property in Southern California, which is where he spends most of his time these days. Rajia Ackley of Ackley Realty in Orlando is handling the listing and also is looking for property for a teen center that McLean, 24, wants to build in the area.

Some of the proceeds from the sale will go to the performer's JNN Foundation, whose goals are to keep music in the schools, to aid diabetes research and to provide a safe environment for kids. The house is to be sold furnished, but McLean plans to auction some items to raise more money for his foundation.

Ackley said a feature of the house's game room is hand-painted murals. Other features include a garden tub, a THX theater and a patio.

WADE ROBSON AND HOWIE D WRITING TOGETHER FOR NEW ALBUM!!

This was mentioned in a recent newsletter from Wade Robson:

This past week Wade has been running around as usual. Of course the Grammy's were on Wednesday night. Wade attended the awards... he went to all the after parties and had a great time with friends. The next day he was a little tired, but back to work. He met with Backstreet Boy, Howie D. on Thursday. They are writing together for Backstreet's new album. The songs sound really good.

Please note that this doesn't mean that the songs will end up on the new album but they will be considered for it.

The following article comes from AndrewFromm.com

WAAAZZAHHHHH!!!!!! Hey gang! LOTS of great new things have been developing since I last posted. I've been on the west coast for the past few weeks writing my booty off for various projects and yes, of course, the next BSB album. Howie and I wrote and co-wrote a whole slew of new songs that we're extremely excited about! I hope I get a song on there this time around again. We'll see! As stated, MARCH 26th is the day Marc's new album releases! Be sure to pick it up and request my song EVERYTHING YOU DO at your local radio stations! This song could literally launch my career into the stratosphere if everyone helps to get it on the radio. Keep in mind, if my writing careers goes up another level, the greater the chance of me releasing my own album. {:0) We are in the middle of recording songs for LEA's debut album. Im SUPER excited about what we've done so far and cant wait for the world to learn about our new up and coming star! Also, I was a very productive schmoozer at this years post-Grammy parties. haha I didnt go to the awards because I'm supersticious about them. I will go the day I'm nominated. {:0) Thats it for now! I hope everyone is doing OK and I look forward to reading more on my message board and guest book!... BIG HUG!!! Andrew

BACKSTREET BOYS SEEK JERMAINE DUPRI, GLEN BALLARD FOR NEXT LP

After testing the waters on 2000's Black & Blue, the Backstreet Boys plan to rely more on their own songwriting for their next album.

Before the handsome fivesome go into the studio in late March, they want to take a trip somewhere together to focus on penning some pop tunes, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough said Tuesday at Clive Davis' annual Grammy Eve party. "We've [already] been doing some writing individually and together," Richardson said.

That doesn't mean the Backstreet Boys won't be collaborating, however. Richardson said they're planning on bringing in R&B hit-maker Jermaine Dupri (Lil' Bow Wow, Jagged Edge) and pop-rock pro Glen Ballard (Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morissette) to write and produce some tracks, which they want to record with a live band.

The Backstreet Boys left Wednesday's Grammy Awards empty-handed but said the night before that they were expecting as much. "We never win," Dorough said. "U2 will take us." Corey Moss

JERMAINE DUPRI CONFIRMS WORK WITH BACKSTREET!

Jermaine Dupri was on a local radio station in Chicago today (B96) and when the DJ's asked him what kind of projects he had coming up, he said he was going to be doing some work for BSB's new album. Of course the DJ's were shocked about this, but JD said he had some good ideas for them and that they would officially start working together 2 weeks after the Grammys. He mentioned he would be working on "several songs" with them and that he was excited to bring them a "hot new sound."

SOLO PROJECTS ALONG WITH THE NEW BSB ALBUM

Nick was interviewed recently on XL 106.7. Kid Cruz asked him several questions which included some info on some upcoming BSB albums!

Cruz: So what else have you been up to other than uh, getting the boat team together?

Nick: Well, besides putting the boat team together Ive been well, recording some music. Ive been recording some music and uh, were in talks right now about doing a solo project.

Cruz: Oh really?!

Nick: In, in talks. Dont know yet, were um, Im gonna talk to the fellas about it and everything.

Cruz: Thatd be pretty cool. So obviously you have a few of those tracks, or potential tracks for the album done already then, right?

Nick: Yeah, weve been, Ive been in recording for the past two months.

Cruz: Whats the style? How are you uh, evolving as a solo artist?

Nick: I dont, I mean, I cant, Im always been very rock influenced. I like rock music a lot, so but I cant really go too hard core rock though, I have to keep it pretty, I mean... put it this way! Its kinda like re-inventing 80s rock in a way, kinda like Bon Jovi and uh, you know, Bryan Adams. That type of stuff. Just basically, Im gonna re-invent that kind of music. With uh, with uh Backstreet twist and uh, uh Nick Carter kind of a groove! I dont know!! Something like that!

Cruz: Since youre out on the boat you probably got a little time, Nick. Hang on and uh well talk more about the Aaron Carter pay-per-view Nick is gonna be on tonight. It starts at 8:00 on your cable system. Wherever you normally get your pay-per-views. Aaron Carters Valentines Party with a little help from Nick Carter. Well talk more to Nick on XL 106.7 after this....

CONFIRMED ALBUM NEWS

It is now basically confirmed that "Dirty Little Secrets" is one of the singles on the next album and that BSB will be doing a duet with Shakira. Barry Weiss of Jive Records had the following to say:

"When A.J. sent me the demo disc, it has two tracks on it, I was expecting two new songs. I popped it in and track one was him explaining what the song meant to him, and then when track two came on, I instantly double checked the package to make sure he didn't give me the wrong disc.
It's not a typical Backstreet song. It's techno, dance, R- Anything but 'Pop'. I've talked with each of the Boys and they are aiming at a new style of music. We are looking at putting together a 20 track release, maybe more. They all want to work with different people, so probably look for five guestappearances or maybe even more. Right now we have locked Shakira. No song has been picked... but that should definatly be hot. She is the latin Britney, only hardcore. Totally huge in the Spanish speaking market. We are also tossing around the idea of maybe Missy Elliot... Lil' Kim."

Brian, Nick, Howie and Kevin returned to the studio full time for a week to try and cut four possible tracks for the still untitled new album. At a local charity benefit for Pediatric Aids Brian said: "We get a better sound with all of us being in the studio together. We could each record our parts on our own, but we feed off energy from one another, plus we don't want A.J. to feel left out of the creative process."

Nick Carter's Early Recordings
Hip-O Records is releasing some pre-Backstreet Boys' recordings of Nick Carter. Called "Nick Carter: Before the Boys 1989-1993", the album will contain 14 songs recorded prior to Nick becoming a BSB member. The early recordings are due for release March 26th. The songs were produced by Carter's former producer and vocal teacher Mark Dye and includes performances from a Tampa Bay Buccaneers halftime show, Florida State Fairs as well as several patriotic songs. Christina Aguilera experienced a similar situation last year when Warlock/Platinum Recordings released an album of her early recordings called Just Be Free. Unlike Carter, though, Aguilera tried to legally stop the album from being released, but failed.
