Do you know why Duo Maxwell keeps his cross?

During the war, I did not. I probably didn’t even care. Duo Maxwell, gundam pilot 02. No more, no less. I kept him out of my mind, my soul and body, away from my heart. Caring for a soldier is dangerous, so I kept him only as a nameless soldier I didn’t have to care about, more than as a helpful tool during the missions. As I said earlier, caring for a soldier is dangerous.

I know what I am talking about - my father was in the military.

And died.

It scared Trowa the fist time he saw the cross, I think. He never told me why, but I think he told Quatre, because my blonde friend said something about ‘painful memories’. After that, Duo always kept the cross hidden under his shirt.

He said that ‘Some memories are better if left in the past.’

At the time, I never realized how right he was. In fact – I don’t think any of us listened to him. Why listen to one who speaks all the time anyway?

To use the cross was a wicked logic to him, but my mind refuses to accept. I know (of course) that the cross is a holy symbol for the Christians, and that is something I can’t understand. They worship the thing that killed the son of God. Don’t try to change my mind because this is what I know and want to believe. It’s the harsh truth.

You know what? Duo believes exactly the same thing that I do. That Christians are worshipping a killing object, I mean.

Do you know that a cross can be bloody?

I think I should change the opening line. Do you know why Duo Maxwell kept his cross?
