Sheryl's February 1-10, 2005 NC tour

Here are some notes on when I will read or perform during my exciting, multifaceted 2005 NC tour.
More details and new events will be added over time. [Events in brackets are not open to the public.]
Please feel free to contact me to book an event during my NC stay and to spread the word with the NC 2005 tour flyer
and the press release.
I hope to see you soon!

[February 1st]
NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching's
NASCAR: Science on the Racetrack
These teachers were a great audience. I read from my novel "Lady Bird," shared tunes from the CD "Songs from Lady Bird," talked about my own science background, lead them in a fun musical improvisation and discussed the interplay of science and the arts.

February 2nd
New Hanover County Public Library

Sharing the music and words of "Lady Bird" with the local community, including a live jembe drumming demonstration, was exciting.

February 3rd: afternoon
Sheryl and Bekka Fink at the Winston-Salem Library

We read works by Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison and played live music by Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. We will shared our own works and covered themes relevant to youth.

February 3rd: evening
Sheryl and with VST Trio members at the Tate Street Coffee House
We created some great live jazz, gathering inspiration for our recording session on Feb 4th.

February 5th
Sheryl and Friends at the Durham County Library
The program
featured readings, live music performances from Sheryl, Bekka Fink, Jeff Spickard, Jon Tegnell and M. Libramento and a neat chance for the audience to help make music. The focus, in celebration of black history month, was on our favorite African American artists and on themes relevant to youth.

[February 7-8th]
Sheryl with the VST Trio at the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching's
Harlem Renaissance Program
I read from the works of Langston Hughes and Claude McKay and made music with great musicians from the
Vaughan Spickard Tegnell Trio
as part of an enrichment program for teachers.

February 9th
Beatties Ford Road Branch Library

I shared the music and words of "Lady Bird" and my poetry in the library's busy black history month programming.

February 10th
Richard B. Harrison Branch Library
I shared "Lady Bird" and "Songs from Lady Bird" with the vibrant community.
