Charlie's books are written in this really weird style - the words are written like they sound to the ear; for example, plate would be playt, government would be govornmeant, and so on. |  Me and Charlie down by the bookstore. Well, Don and I, we do not go way back, but he has visited Parry Sound on several occasions. The photo shows he and I at a book signing. Mr. Harron wrote several books under his other persona of Charlie Farquharson, and many of those books were about the Parry Sound area. The books he has written as Charlie are in the humour category - one thing to remember, Charlie can't spell, so all those volumes are written in a very bizarre fashion and are actually quite hard to read. And of course, Mr. Harron realized plenty of fame as 'Charlie' on the Hee Haw show several decades ago. He also made another visit to Parry Sound while I was a reporter there.
